St Croix Fly Rods Deal of a lifetime!!!

I recently posted a question to everyone about getting a new fly rod and I really appreciate the advice and comments. I started looking and I found an unbelievable deal on Craigslist. I found this guy who had Three St Croix Fly Rods and was asking 150 for all of them. I'm thinking no way, these are knock offs or in bad shape. So I go and check them out and I have to hide my excitement because they are brand new and never used. I got him down to $120 for the set of three.

st.croix legend series l 8656 line wt 5/6

st. croix legend series l 9078 line wt 7/8

st. croix pro graphite pf 8656 line wt 5/6.

They are brand new and still in the velvet bags and metal cases. He threw in a bazooka rod carrier to boot. I am not real familar with the differences in series and I am asking which of the two 5/6 wts are the better rod?

Pittsburgh is where I got them, the guy said his boss is a huge fisherman and wanted him to try it so he gave him those. He didnt want them and must not have known what they were worth or he stole them. Hey some one has to buy them. Either way I will put them to good use. I love CL it always has great deals. I am giving one of the 5/6 to my dad and keeping the other two for trout and steelhead.

The series of the rods is just legend, before they had elite and ulra. They stopped making them around yr 2000.

The older Legend series model numbers had only one line designation, similar to the Ultra and Elite. Never seen em' with 2 line designations.
My old 4wt Legend was a 794 = to 7'9" 4wt. One of my favorite rods, by the way. Nice looking, too with burgundy wraps on a black blank.
The Imperials had 2 line designations.

Those could be legitimately gotten. I got a discontinued St. Croix premier 7'6 4wt at cost for $24.00 when I was working for a local rod building/fly tying supply company.

I wanted to get a dozen of them at that rate and put them up on ebay and craigslist but didn't have the free cash at the time.

May do that this year though when the stock gets rotated out.

Ya I'm not complaining. I'm just happy to get some nice rods for myself and I am giving one to my Pops. I think that will even out my Karma.
