This was a PSA Spring Banquet a few years ago. Jim was teaching Crip the Westside Sign.

We had a good time that night.

When the white Eagle of the North is flying overhead. And the browns, golds  and reds of autumn, lie in the gutter, dead. Remember then of summer birds with wings a fire flying. Come to witness springs new hope born of leaves decaying.

As a new life will come from death. Love will come at leisure. Love of love, love of life. Born without measure. Give's  in return  a wondrous yearn of a promise almost seen. Live hand and hand and together we all will stand. On this threshold of a dream. (justin hayward circa 1970)

Sleep well Terry. You will be remembered.

This thread is a testament to the man he was.  I did not know him at all, but could not help checking the boards every day for his progress, and hoping he would pull through.  I guess extraordinary people have the power to touch others, even those they never met.
It may be a good idea to print some of the well wishes from this thread and give them to his family, or place in his casket.

Keep the love flowing!

Terry once told me before the internet he had no friends.  But with the fisherie boards he sure developed a lot of friendships.  We became friends instantly.  Wish I would have saved some of those pictures he emailed me.  I had some good ones.  He liked it when ever I posted "Nice pics" on his threads.  I didn't post one time and he sent me an email saying I didn't post "Nice pics" to his thread.   I'll remember you always Cripp.   We'll miss you deeply.

he used to call me and say how much he liked it when I would reply to his threads. he also used to get mad at me over the summer when I would work long hours and not be able to talk to him,I really am going to miss him. he was a friend for life . some day we will be together again , really miss ya bro. I just wished he wasnt 4 hours away, so we could have spent more time together.

Heres the obituary in todays paper. It also has where the service is being held.
http://www.lewistownsentinel.com/obituaries/articles.asp?articleID=7945

LEWISTOWN — Terry L. Yocum Jr., 48, of Lewistown, died at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Hershey Medical Center.

Born Sept. 18, 1958, in Lewistown, he was the son of Terry L. and Rosa S. (Secrest) Yocum Sr., of Ferguson Valley Road, McVeytown. His wife, Lori L. (Skipper) Yocum, who he married April 13, 1985, survives.

Also surviving are: two sons, Jeffrey A. Yocum, Lewistown, and Terry L. Yocum III, USMC stationed in North Carolina; and a brother, Brian Yocum, Atkinson Mills.

He was a 1977 graduate of Lewistown Area High School. He also completed a two year printer’s course in Johnstown.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he also helped stock trout in Mifflin, Huntingdon, Juniata, and Snyder counties. He was known for his outdoor photography that was taken while fishing for steelhead in the Lake Erie tributaries and in local streams for trout. He often photographed his friends while fishing and later added captions that he would post on Internet fishing sites.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Evangel Baptist Church, 375 West Fifth Street, Lewistown, with Pastor Darrell Wireman officiating.

Harshbarger Funeral Home, McVeytown, is in charge of arrangements.

If you go to the old board and search "crip"  -- you'll get 321 pages of Terry in some way.  Lots of reading there.

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

Speaking of terry and pics, he sure did love to share in any that you had to share. I planned a hunting trip with terry last fall and somthing came up that he couldnt make it. Wouldn't you know it, that morning I shot a buck in the place I wanted to take him. I came home and posted the picture on the board thinking he would see it but somehow he missed it. Man did I catch hell for that! He sent me an email telling me that the next time I shot a deer or caught a big fish he better be the first one too see it. I believe not long after that I started looking for a GSP and recieved lots of sound advice from him. He was the first to get pictures of that trophy.

I dont know about the rest of you guys by I absolutely hated the screen name that he choose to use on here. He may have had some problems but the name definately did not fit the man. From the day I met him on Spring Creek I never once refered to him as the crip after that. Simply put, he outfished me, a man 1/2 his age. I prob tied terry a good 6-8 dozen flies in the time I knew him. When I knew he needed them I would sit down and do as many as he needed. He would then meet me somewhere and we would talk. We only fished once together but I will never forget him.

Im glad to know that hes not suffering anymore, a man who was equally nice to everyone deserves a break.

Your one in a million!

For what it is worth, I NEVER called him "Crip".  To me, he was and is Terry.  I didn't really like that nickname either, but I also think it somehow showed how comfortable Terry was with himself.

Terry had a 100 reasons to never get out of bed every morning, and every morning, he found a reason TO get out of bed.  As others have mentioned, I think he is a wonderful example of what the human spirit can do.

I saw the quote from him regarding That trip was special for all of us involved.  We gabbed it up the entire drive to and from (about 600 miles all told), and managed to catch a couple fish.  He introduced me to some of his Erie friends, who made it a very, very special day.  I am sad to think that I won't get any more of those with Terry, but last night I went through all of the pictures he sent me over the last couple years, and know at the very least I got to spend some time on the water with a very special person.

I think all the posts here are a real symbol of just how much one person can touch our lives..........Thanks Terry!!

My thoughts and prayers continue to go to Terry's wife and sons.  God Bless

T's good people.  He did have a head like a brick at times but I'm no peach either.  My youngest daughter has gone with me every time I've visited T either to fish or in the hospital.  She asked if she could come on Tuesday too.  He must have been doing something right because my daughter sure thought of him as her friend.

I've been trying to get T to go to the shore with me for years and we had several of the board members talking about sometime this summer.  If I have a regret it would be me not getting my brick head on sooner and pushing him harder to come to the shore with me.

To anyone local to Terry,  if there is an online "guest list" for friends and well-wishers to sign, please post a link to it.  The Erie paper has this service, I'm hoping that the local paper there does too.  Thank you, in advance.

Gentlemen,
If anyone wants to send a floral tribute to the Memorial service I'd like to recommend Lewistown Florists.  I called about 4 florists in the area and these people were the best to work with.  They are at:  lewistownflorists  on the internet, and the # is:  1-800-427-7639.  BTW I signed my card with my screen name above my actual name so the family will know who Indsguiz is.   Wish I could be there but my Dr. says the ride is a little too long.  Send him off well fellows.

Like everyone else on this board, I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a great man, which Terry truly is in every sense of the word. He achieved far more, and touched more people, than most people ever do in far more fortunate situations. Again, the word "inspiration" is an understatement by a magnitude of ten. He will be sorely missed, but not forgotten. God bless you Terry, and our hearts go out to your entire family.

Your friend,
Dan

I haven't been on the board long enough to have known Terry. But I can see by the outpouring of affection for the man that he must have had a huge heart to have touched so many people. Good hearts are hard to find in todays crazy world. The loss of a good one touches people he did not even know..
My deepest sympathy's go out to his family. Loosing a loved one is a very trying time in our lives. I hope they know just how many people he has touched as it may ease their pain some in this time of sorrow.
There are a couple of you fellows that seem to have a heart as large as Terry's for he would not be at that stream side(doing what is obvious he so much loved, fishing) without your help. You are to be commended, finding true friends in life always makes life just that much more worth living..
