Ed took me to his secret spot today.

And we had a hell of a time. I lost count of the number of fish, but I would guess over 50. Most were tiny bluegill, pumpkinseed, and bass (some large, some small). But we did have a few keepers.

Ed sent this pike back down to fight another day. We didn't measure it, but I'm guessing it went around 10lbs.

About a 4lb bass.

16" Crappie

And the keepers for the day.

Thanks for showing me around Ed. I had a blast.

When hell freezes over, I'll fish there too.

    Hook:

Thanks for joining me for a great day and not telling anyone about how we snuck into the hatchery.  Next time we won't need the big grappling irons to land all those fish.

P.S. Brian - the jacket went by the boards when I leaned against the muffler on my auger three years ago!

    Yank:

Round Lake has been safe for weeks and Lake Lonely has been fished almost as long.  One thing to know about Lake Lonely is the Saratoga Springs police are going to tag cars parked along Union Avenue Ext. if there get to be too many on the weekend.
During the week they don't mind a few cars, but the weekends have been getting crowded.  I would check with them before parking there just to be safe.  Of course that is the only access  to the lake and the couple parking spots near the golf course haven't been cleared out for parking.  Actually when those spots are cleared out I think it is done by guys ice fishing that have plows on their trucks.
Have a good day on Sunday and let's see if we can't hook up some day!

P.S. How did you know that was Greasy Neale's jacket???

OK thanks a bunch Ed. I think we'll try Round Lake, less walking and parking hassle. It's been a tough lake for me in the past and this year I'm hoping the Vex will break the Hex.  Will report when i get back.

I heard they did that last year, I think it was the sheriff not the city cops and it was because of snow removel. If they do it for other then snow removel I think you can fight it for a couple of reasons. First and formost is the DEC sign on the tree making it a wildlife access point. Second seeing there are no "No Parking" signs as long as all four tires are on the right side of the white line and it doesn't impead traffic it should be legal to park. Just a thought I may be wrong, don't seem like you can be ticketed if it isn't posted you can't.
