what is a decent price? I haven't been into BAC for a few years so I couldn't tell you what they have. However, FishUSA does have quite a good selection of rods in every price range. Thanks, Rick

I tested flyrods out here at local shops and then ordered from FishUSA. I figure it's the least I can do since I use this board that they so generously provide.
Have you ever been on a real shrimpn' boat? No, but I've been on a real big boat!

Why buy a fly fishing outfit from a magazine? Go to your local tackle shop and try out a few outfits. They should be more than happy to take you in the parking lot and let you cast a few/give you a quick lesson and talk turkey. If you are fishing strickly steelies you better be armed with at least a 7weight. Know what you can spend going in also do not pass over used outfits.

Use of the board to promote other commercial web sites or tackle shops, or web sites or tackle shops which compete with the FishUSA.com, FishErie.com or FishSalmonRiver.com web sites is prohibited Go to Fishusa.

Fortunately my job lets me get to erie quite often during steelhead season, with that in mind i have been to bac a few times in an emergency but you can not beat the prices or service of poor richards. I have bought 2 cortland noodle rods off of them this year and you cant beat there price ANYWHERE. They are also having an awesome sale right now on there cortland fly rods for I believe 69.99 or 79.99. These rods are lifetime warranty and poor richards backs it up! I bought a rod for my father for his birthday(not a cortland) and he broke it in 3 places before he even caught a fish with it. When I was buying him the cortland as a replacement I was telling the lady waiting on my at PR ( I believe it was dotty) and she said bring it in and she handed me a brand new one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im sory but you dont get service like that many places any more in this day and age. PS I am in no way affiliated with Poor Richards but I am a customer for life. I apolagize in advance for my spelling, I am a college grad but my spelling still sucks!

Not putting down FishUSA, but they run this site to make money, not out of generosity. What about the generosity of the local shops that let You test rods for free in hopes of selling you one? just sayin...

Just don't buy single eggs , one at a time price gouged minnows or emeralds that they never run out of LOL at BAC . The hard single egg variety ( the ones that last a few casts on a salmon egg hook) are labeled as being hard and are soft as are all tubes on there counter . I believe a marketing ploy because noone I know fishes the soft variety so we'll just mark em as hard & sell all soft . Told me some BS about that is how "the guys" want em . If you can't sell em go lay one . Just my personal experiences/opinion no more money from my friends & I . As for fish usa & poor richards cudos to both .

Since you'll have to be in town to get to BAC, I think Dan has a storefront in Erie for FishUSA also. Give him a ring and who knows, he just might have a parking lot to use. Thanks Rick

Sugar, FishUSA is open weekdays 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and you can stop in the shop to test drive a rod. We stock many models of rods, from various manufacturers. The address is 901 W. 12th St and you can see the directions here: http://www.fishusa.com/Contact.asp#directions Thanks

Yes, Fishusa has a storefront (small but workable). I have stopped in there several times and the guys at the counter are quite helpful. I believe it's 12th and Cherry.

"I believe a marketing ploy because noone I know fishes the soft variety so we'll just mark em as hard & sell all soft . " That's interesting. Everyone I know, prefers the "juicy" eggs over the "bouncey".

Yeah spoon theres a happy medium between bouncey and the hook penetrating the yolk and instant disintegration. Three canisters of disintegrating eggs are not my idea of a marketable product ; especially with frozen fingers.

Dream Catcher I agree with you. I don't buy eggs at BAC anymore because of that reason. As soon as I would put a size 14 wire hook into it, it would disintegrate and I'd have nothing but a shell. Happened several different weeks and they assured me the ones they were replacing were better. Not a chance, some soft type so I quit going there. To me, bad product at a bait shop is like food poisoning at a restaurant, you don't even want to take a chance on going back and the bad news spreads quickly.
