muskie questions

I used to guide canoe trips in western Ontario and have boated a ton of northerns, but never a muskie

a few questions;
-this is a muskie right? and it isn't a tiger?
- any estimates on how long, or weight? i'm 6'1.. the thing was trying to bite and was not happy about pics and 2 yinzer trying to land him (with no net)... so i got him back in the water ASAP

    Nice fish.  It looks like a musky to me.  The few tigers I have caught had more pronounce stipes down the sides.  It is hard to tell the lenght, but it seems to be in the 36" range,maybe 15 to 20 lbs.  I really am only guessing.  I caught a fish last Sunday that was just under 36" and we guessed it weighed about 15 lbs.

    It does look like a regular muskie and like Bughawk said, tigers have more pronounced stripes

    that's a standard muskie, not a tiger.  looks like a nice 42-44 incher.  real nice for out of the backchannel.  if you're after muskie's in particular, there catching some monsters at the new brighton dam next to the old waterworks wall.   how's the walleye and sauger fishing there at the montour?

    Yep its a Musky.  Nice one too, good to know he is still swimming.  Here is a somewhat helpful site with ID tips.

    Thx MuskyMastr for the id tips. I didnt realize that the fins on the tiger were rounded instead of more to a point on the regular skies.

    Muskies have some wild color variations.  I have seen them almost pure green, like that above w/ less pronounced stripes, I have seen them a golden brown, lots of variation, but yes that is a regular musky, not a tiger.
