Bait Shops

Is that bait shop across from Giant Eagle right outside of West Newton still open.  How early does any of these guys open anyhow? I think the lady on 51 in Rostravor opens at 6:30.  Posa's at the old paylake in Forward Township has the very best bait but thats quite a bit further down the road.

The bar above the bait shop is or was called Palfey's. If you look up their phone number you might be able to get some info on the bait shop. Where do you drive from when you fish the Yough? If you tell me I might be able to tell you about a different bait shop.

I live in new Stanton and fish the Yough from Suttersville to Connellsville.  I spend most of my time between West Newton and Whitsett.  Did real good tonight in the Smithton area right up from the Eureaka hole.  The Smallmouth are on a rampage.

I was there, in West Newton, this past Saturday.  That bait shop was closed at 5:00 pm.  I think the hours are 7am to 5pm and the shop is for sale.

I've stopped by several bait shops for night crawlers the last several weeks and they all have been horrible.  The can-a-bait in the gas stations have the best crawlers and thats a fact.  Thee bait shops wannt $2 a dozen and the convenience stores want $2.35.  I'll gladly pay another 35 cents for crawlers that are fatter and more lively.

What about the bait shop in the alley down in Sutterville by the river if he is still open?  That shop has always had good bait and the price is fair.  I not sure of his hours but most of the time I have gotten bait there at least till dark and as early a 9 am in the past. This was last year so not sure about this year as I have not been at the river fishing yet.

Any day with a rod in the water is better than a day at work
