yeah just be safe on the slip! I can't see it happening in sub freeze , I actually thought is was going to stay somewhat warmer this early winter, I guess ole man artic blew in early this year! Still, there is always a chance for a few consecutive days above freeze before ice really sets in!  I do remember a few suicide trips in jan .feb. march.. but I will likely be icefishing. GLTA

Hit the river sunday snow, cold, wind it was one of those days you think to your self and say "I am nuts". Started fishing lower river hit the first fish about an hour after sun up a 6to7lb male my girlfriends nephew stayed with the fly rod with no takers. I hit the second fish a beast around 9am she came up and let me see here 15+ chrome, beautiful!! She turned down stream never to stop.So I had my other 13.5 ft rod  set up for girls nephew that I got him to pick it up. I got him floating the right way and put him on a tailout spot that fish hold in when the waters 500 or less so he went down and he hooked up on the third cast:fishing2:. He put the salmon beef to it and it was gone:headshake. I told him to get the hook set and let the fish fight the rod not you w/5lb test it the smart thing to do! So he put a new hook on and back he went, two cast fish on and it tailed him out and wrapped a rock and it was gone.  It hit 12pm the snow wasn't stoping we were both frozen and  decided to get out of there while we could. I ended up 1for two  sty ended up 0 for three.

Whats nuts about standing in water with ice rings on your legs, trying to cast between islands of slush floating down the river, clearing ice out of your guides every second cast?

Fished again sat hit the river around 7.30 am cold 8 deg in the truck. Headed to the staircase that my friend talked me into fishing, that over years experiences I new there would be slush!!!  There it was!!! It was a three cast day, thats all you had before your shot string was twice the size it should be. we hit top to bottom no takers,I didn't even have a hit! That made a super long day fished hard until 3.30. Talked to another guy fished from village down had one take down. 40 deg for this weekend should be better.
