WV 8pt DOWN!!

Opening day in WV was full of rain wind and lots of activity.  Sat all day on stand until about 330pm a nice 8pt Buck walked out into the field edge I was hunting after some does.  He chased one doe and came out into the field.  Chased the 2nd doe before turning broadside and taking a 130gr Hornady from my .270win...He staggered and crumbled....

My nicest deer yet.  8pts nice long brows and about 15.5" of spread on the inside...

Still getting the pictures together will post soon

Sounds like a good one from a state that cares about hunters first. Congrats

S-10  West Va. is changing that point of view, at least in my eyes. For example: 7.55 am first day I had to let a very nice 9pt. walk because  the area that we have hunted for 25 yrs. switched to a 14" outside spread min. & as the buck was walking past me from the side I wasn't positive it was legal,so I let it pass.A guy down the hollow evidently had a better view & shot it. It was 14 1/2"wide.  On top of that, now non-res. hunters have to pay a $12 law enforcement tag,A $2 national forest tag ,if you want to hunt in a national forest there,a $110 general license,$30 each for bow, turkey, & muzzle-loader tags, plus $25 for a doe tag, plus you must get your deer checked at a checking station before you leave the county where you killed it no matter when you get back to your vehicle.    sam

People here are complaining about how hard it is to count points on deer wait until we have to measure spread! 14" outside still will be between the ears not a very wide spread.

Nice job Jeff! One of these days i'm going to go down and fill the freezer from West Virginia.
