Preditar or ASAT camo

Been looking at both and I do believe Ill be wearing one or the other by next season. Any of you guys wear this stuff. Seems like it is much better then the commercialized camos with the leaves/sticks/trees/dark blobs.

I lost my backpack last week in the leaves right by my tree.  Took forever to find it.  It was right in front of me about 4 feet away.  It is ASAT.   I lost a glove outside the house the other day in the leaves, it is predator fall gray.   Probably considered the two best camo patterns around.  That said, I got some issues with predator fall gray.  This comes with minimal experience however.  I think it's a great pattern when there are no leaves on trees and when deer can skyline you.  No leaves, on flat ground, and hunting hardwoods, probably open woods would be best.  The most important treestand placement for me is to not be skylined, so I've found some issues with it because I hunt hilly terrain full of laurel and thick small white pines.   A day in the hardwoods recently, I called in a four pt.  Based on my placement, height, and the age of the deer, no way he should have looked up at me.  It was really dark by the time he got directly under me ( well past shooting light).  I made no movement and he watched me for about 5 minutes.   Because it was so dark, I felt that he picked out the white pattern in the camo, which there is a lot of it.  Midday he may not have noticed me.

A few days later, a squirrel came up a neighboring tree and looked right at me.  I didn't even blink.   Can't say I've ever had a squirrel stop and stare at me without me moving first.

I don't know what to think.  Only time will form a better opinion.  Guys that wear these camo's love them.  I'm not so sure.

Some say ASAT is a better material.

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

I think im sold on the ASAT, seems to be effective with predator you would have to own all of the colors. The argument ASAT makes is deer dont see green so its useless.

They say deer see blues and yellows and darks and lights.  That's why these patterns are considered the best there is.  While mossy oak camo looks good to the eye close up, take it back 20 yards.  Your eye loses the break up of the camo and the material looks black.  That said, can you see the detailed pattern of tree at 20 yards?  Nope.  Who knows.

The predator camos look good. I've never tried them, but can imagine the pattern would break up your outline pretty well.

That being said, I wear mossy oak for both turkey and deer, and never had a problem. I can't see myself switching until the 100's of dollars of camo I already have wears out. Even then, I doubt i'll switch.

Killed lots of deer, turkeys, pheasants you name it in this camo. But if I am never gonna wear it whats the purpose. Double Bull blinds did extensive testing and chose Predator camo for a reason. Have you seen the pics? I have way way way to much hunting clothing just sitting around with no purpose. I want two suits. The new one im getn for christmas which is again, a very non specific pattern and is wool/fleece. The other which i will select from these two for early season. Deer dont see like we do. The money I make from selling all this camo I have will more then pay for the new camo.

Have you ever tried Scent Blocker ? I go 20' with it and don't even wear a face mask and deer walk all over under me. Shower (scent soap), scent blocker activated and still spray down with DDW. Have not been busted yet in the last 4yrs.............

It doesn't matter what you wear. If they can smell you, even slightly, you're done.

It looks to me like the pictures are a little deceiveing. First one looks pretty far away. Second one is in a shadow. Third the guy on the left looks father away. Forth any camo would look good where he is standing. Last one black and white. Why? Trick camera work. Looks like somebody fell for it though.

True, ASAT offers a silver scent technology suit. Yes goose, i take all the scent precautions right down to wearing rubber gloves when walking in. You do know scent lok is quite controversial but silver is used everywhere for just the same purpose. I own a baselayer which is silver, dont wear it all the time. Rarely have deer bust me. The busts usually come from movement, not smell. If you stand out like a sore thumb at 20+ yrds your scent doesnt matter one bit.

I saw that too, but wasn't smart enough to put my thoughts into words.

I had the biggest 11 point run right by me, downwind from me, and didn't notice. I'm a firm believer in scent, but Camo I dunno....

Then again I climb high in trees so.

I'm not sayin its not a good camo but the pictures make it look better than it really is. I dont use any thing special just a scentlock suit. I do think some of the leafy stuff companies have out now helps break up your outline. The type of hunting I do for deer is in a stand and scent is more of an issue. I ofter though about getting a suit like that but more for turkeys.

I like the Predator camo. The ASAT looks like it might have too much of lighter colors in it though for later in the season with no leaves on the trees.

Jeremy, have you checked out Optifade or Mothwing yet for next year? Optifade is coming out with a new line in the summer of next year with a new digital camo, but I think it is for the western plains of country.

Have not seen it, ill have to check it out.

As for the pictures, go look at any you wish. I dont know about you but the woods arent always dark for me, nor are the always light. Hows that mossy oak stand up in a field? What about in snow? Come on guys, use your head.

I posted the links for a reason. Why do you think a tiger is colored/striped the way it is? Oh wait, thats right, everything on this forum is a hoax. Im not saying realtree or mossy oak doesnt work, it does. I just think this is a better pattern and apparently so do people all around the world.

I am going to pull 3 hang-ons Friday.  I'll wear my predator fall gray and have my dad take pics while I'm up there.  Maybe I'll take some of my mossy oak with me too. I've been wanting to anyway.   Just for sheetz and giggles.

I agree, but theres plenty of independant people who have done the same. I posted the pictures as examples, not an end all, i dont have some sponsership with ASAT although ill gladly take one if theyre listening.

I bet if you take a look at mossy oak or realtree websites, they have pics showing their camo blending completely into different backgrounds just like the ASAT site. I'm not convinced ASAT is any better than MO or Realtree.

I've killed lots of deer at 20 yards and under, and few of them had any idea that I was there. The ones that had any clue I was there caught my scent....It's never been an issue of being seen.

After i thought about it again...i looked at the pictures again...and i noticed the sun is shiney or bright in every picture..They do blend in...but okay when do deer show up under your stand? lower levels of light? i just wonder how it looks like around the 20 minutes before you cant shoot and/or in the lower morning lights when the sun isnt over horizon yet, and the deer are under yourstand and you have alot of lights in your camo pattern.

deadbolt..i've killed 10. give or take a foot on being 10 foot up. hhaha and i killed one on the ground...yeah it was a "yearling" and yeah i was in blue jeans and a green sweatshirt scouting around for a new bow spot and happened to have my bow in my hand..my camo worked great that day.

That could be an issue, possibly. For me, most of my archery action is mid day. I think silverkype mentioned he had a pattern he thought had that problem earlier this year.

Heres one, to get an idea of what that might be like, look at his legs vs the top.

I'll admit I was busted on the first day of season this year. A nice 8pt busted me while I was on the ground and drawing my bow. I made the mistake of trying to draw while he wasnt looking away. I don't think it would have mattered what kind of camo I would have had on.

As far as not seeing it happen.... I'm sure we all spook deer we don't see, but in my case, the ground I hunt allows me to see pretty far. If there are deer withing 100 yards that aren't downwind of me, i'll know they're there, otherwise it would be my scent that alerted them.

I'm sure the ASAT and Predator are fine camos, but in my opinion they're probably no better than the mossy oak you already own.
