wish me luck

I'm putting in East Ave in the morning. I'm going to head west around the point and towards Ohio. I plan on going down the shore almost to the State line and trolling my way back. (fishing for eyes). I'll be on channel 68 if anyone is interested on how I'm doing. Just ask for Finster. I'll be more than happy to fill you in. Think I'll start with 4 1/2 " deep divers and maybe some mid diving crank baits. I'm taking my father for his first time on that lake, so we can get 4 lines in the water and have plenty of options for trying different lures. Wish me luck and I'll post how we did.

You are going right now?  I don't know about 30 miles north, but it is windy here out of the NW.  How big is your boat and more importantly motor?  I do believe from Walnut that is 16 or so miles to the state line???  So from East Ave. you are probably looking at 21 or so miles??  I think you ought to rethink running that far.  Try just west of the clay banks down by Godfrey.

No, I'm going in the morning. N.O.A.A says 2 feet or less, then building to 1-3 in the evening winds from the South. I think I'll be fine. If not, I'll be somewhat close to shore 1/2 mile or so. The reason I'm running west and trolling East is so that if the weather does pick up, I can ride the waves home.  My boat is big enough for that. 16', 40 hp, 9.9 kicker, deep V, and all the extras. However, I do thank you for the concern. It's nice to have.

21 miles at 2 MPH=10 1/2 hours with no stops
21 miles at 1.5 MPH=14 hours with no stops
    Or was that each way?
    In a 16', 40 hp, 9.9 kicker ?
My azz hurts and I am stiff all over just thinking about it.

Three foot waves in a 16' boat not my idea of fun.  Take your Dramamine and be careful.

LOL... You guys are killing me..... Perhaps I should be more clear........ I'm heading toward the state line. I will be slowing down to mark fish along the way.  ya know doing a little exploring. I doubt I will be trolling for 20 miles . This is my first summer fishing at Erie and i'm kinda probing around. Trying an educated guess as it were. Never fear, I have a lot of respect for the lake and at the first sign of trouble, I  head for the closest dock and thumb back to the trailer. I have quite a bit of boating behind me, (20 years) Believe me, I know when to run. All of your concern  really moves me however. This is a very nice site with nice people.

I have a deep V 16 ft tiller with a 40 and 10 on  the back. I run from Walnut to the Ohio line and troll back. Me and 2 of my buddies and I never get all the way back without our limit of eyes. I would wait a few more weeks to do it though. I also pay close attention to the weather. There is not a walleye in that lake worth dying for!!!!

Fished Lake Wilhelm today instead of doing Erie. WOW! IT SUCKED! Fished all day and got 1 - 15 inch eye. I hate that little lake. My father had never been and wanted to go. If your planning on Wilhelm don't go! I think we got the last eye (grin)
