Deer vocalization

Heard a deer tonight making a grunt sound I had never heard before...
It was a long sustained grunt followed by a very short grunt.
Bahhhhhhhh  bah  about 5 sec pause  Bahhhhhhhh  bah..
Did this about 8 times..
Wasn't a real deep guttural sound, but wasn't a doe bleat either...
Went away for 10 minutes and then did it again a half dozen times..
I know it was deer i saw it 75 yrds away through the brush but couldn't tell what it was...
 
Any clue??

    only saw 1 deer..But more could have been around..
