Pike/Musky nets

I currently have been using a salmon size ranger net I picked up at Dicks.  The mesh is not tangle free which results in disaster 9 of 10 times.  I strictly C&R and having one set of trebles in the net and the other inside a Musky's jaw does not help for a quick release.   I was hoping someone can guide me to a better musky net(tangle free).  I have looked at the tangle free cradle style nets and I do like them however 120 bucks for a net is a bit steep.  Any input on the subject will be greatly appreciated.

I use a BassPro Shops tangle free net and it works great.  Never tried a cradle net.

I'm sure some are better than others but the cradle i had was terrible.  Picked up a frabill coated net, it's very deep.  As you said it probably sells for over a hundred bucks but I got it for $40 at a show two years ago.  Perhaps someone from muskiesinc can guide you in the right directon.

I think alot of the musky guys use a gaff. It is alot easier on both the fish & angler.  ????

I use a large Frabill for my toothy critters and don't usually have any problems with it.

Crappiefisher.....a gaff should not be part of anyones Pike/Musky equip. ESPECIALLY for C&R

You must be thinkin of a gaff with a hook ???? The gaff I'm talking about harms a fish less than usein a net.

That sounds interesting Crappie, would you happen to have a picture of one or a link to see one of these things?

They are a lip grip tool. Some come with a built in scale & tape measure. Berkley sells them & I'm sure other comp. do also.
