PGC meeting agenda posted (crossbows)

Check it out as there are some huge changes that will be voted on in regards to our archery seasons.

Crossbow inclusion statewide and a lifting of the max poundage limit.

While I shot my buck with a crossbow I will not support full inclusion until I see the PGC staff report expected at the meeting.  Also, not sure where the lifting the #200 max poundage limit came from.  I do not support that as that can make the sky the limit as far as performance goes IMO.

Whatever the case, I am confident the PGC will make the correct decision (excluding opinions from pro/anti folks) for our deer.

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

I agree.  Many points of view but I trust what this board will decide for this point in time.

They really do want deer wiped out. Wow, ive hunted 5 evenings so far. Ive seen 2 deer.

Certainly isnt for my lack of effort. Im going outside my comfort zone now to try and find deer. Ive even concluded im willing to risk my trailcam being stolen just to figure out patterns.

I don't want the same old arguement to start again. So, I won't give my $.02.

I just can't see the PGC allowing crossguns. If they thought it was a good idea, they would have included them in archery season before now.

Drake-- I would agree except it means a new license which means more money and the PGC has been crying broke for a long time. It also means a lot more deer killed if Ohio's experience is any indication.

    ORIGINAL: S-10

Not sure of that S-10.  I believe that only license requirement would be a archery stamp good for any bow including crossbows.

Now, if they get some new archer recruitment that would mean more licenses sold and more revenue.

I doubt we will see much if any increase in people... we lose more and more every year. I really dont care but come on 200#, fully cocked and just waiting is plenty. Some people can use a crossbow well, some people think the distance they can shoot is like a gun.

I just dont see that happening, if so, what makes archery season special, you got blackpowder and crossbows everywhere... i dont think that flies with me. I really dont care to tell you the truth.

If they are gonna legalize them, I wish they'd give them a short season, like muzzleloader, rather than giving them the run of archery season.  I dont care if people want to use them, but I'm not willing to have the archery season shortened due to higher harvests.

The only experience I have had with crowsbows is while hunting in Ohio(I still use a bow). Now I am sure that there are much less archery hunters in that state than Pa. But I have been hunting Southern Ohio for about 4 years and I have not seen any negative effects with their usage(most of the guys I see hunting use both). And don't forget Ohio has a LONG season(from Oct-Feb) I guess I am neutral on that subject.
