Egg pattern fly fishing

Fly fishing with an egg pattern and a float how should it be rigged. Float, split shot, and then egg. Should the egg or split shot be dragging on the creek bottom or just above the creek bottom?

    The splitshot goes between the egg and the float. try different methods depending what the conditions dictate. Try no splitshot or no float.Don't be afraid to try different things till the fish tell you what they want.

    Agreed. some days if the fly isn't ticking along the bottom, you won't get any bites, but other days they hammer them higher in the water column.

    I don't give a crap if anybody listens to me or not.
