6 point buck swimming 5 miles off Elk Creek September 24th

The photos below are of a Six Point buck which my Son Jonathan and I saw out on Lake Erie 5 miles off shore on September 24th.   A fellow fisherman, Greg Lasko, a roofing contractor from Erie saw the deer first.  Greg was able to turn the deer and head him back to shore.  The Deer  was swimming at a very fast rate when these pictures were taken with Jon's cell phone.

Awhile back a couple of guys recused a deer in the Chesapeake Bay.  Deer can swim pretty well, but I would imagine if they become disoriented they will eventually tire themselves out and drown.

Of course, this could be a terrorist deer trying to come in from Canada.  We should alert the Border Patrol....

I may have to set up a stand on my boat this fall!  Kill two birds with one stone.

That's pretty crazy.  Hopefully he makes it.  Maybe a big steelhead will grab him.  LOL!

I never thought of using a deer for steelhead bait, but that might be a good idea.  I wonder what size hook I would need?

Bughawk, I'm thinking a size 18 daicchi would do the trick.

And I always thought those deer hair poppers I use for bass resembled mice or frogs....
I guess that deer are in a bass' diet, too!

Thats really something else.  I've seen them swimming the Ohio River a few times but never thought of them trying it in Erie.
