I stand corrected, FishUSA does carry it...here it is

http://www.fishusa.com/tackleshop/catalog_product.asp?url=Glo-Bugs-Yarn&i=F5FD70E792D0405986832ECE95C2AC0B&fx=1

thats the exact same material used to make those flies, if not, it should be

to get that hairy look... comb it

Not the same stuff Jeremy  Totally different material

well its a good substitute then. It also reminds me of that enrico puglasi material.

I can make that exact representation using that egg yarn.

As far as egg patterns go, i've caught more steelhead and stream trout on a cream delight glo-bug than any other egg pattern.....but that's just me.

Jeremy  I don't think the Egg Yarn would be a good sub for this stuff it feels and acts totally different  and besides the egg yarn doesn't come in the same colors that I am aware of

Skip is right.....laser yarn is no longer in production.  Ed Bordas, who was a friend of mine, invented and pattened the product pased away in the late 1980's.  Folly's purchased about $10,00 worth of material from Ed's widow.   When Folly's was sold a few years ago the new owner started to unload what little inventory was left to various stores in the Erie area.
You will not get the same result with glo bug yarn. It is not even a mediocre substitute.

There has got to be a substitute. If not egg yarn, something... a combination of things. Someone send me a chunk so i can look at it in person.

wanna know a neet trick for lazer yarn this will blow you away and im sure you will not be able to recreate this material as others have tried put a bag of it on a table and put a bag of glo bug yarn next to it turn out the lights and put a black light over them both and see what happens

You ever try that skip?

Louis: I have one bag here in a redish color you can have. If you ever master the process just tie me a couple of flies with it. If you want it i'll give it to my son or drop it off at your parents next trip.

I was fortunate enough to receive a few of these laser yarn flies in a swap sometime last year, it is an interesting material, I think the closest material your going to find is Polar Fibre......
