INVASIVE SPECIES

Okay, I just want to know alittle more about those inasive species advisories.. specifically the killer fish VHS disease in these fishing waters. Suppose you decide to keep a fish and it is a carrier of VHS.. what about transporting it to lower states such as nj and after fish skin entrails disguarded.. a racoon takes it to nearby brook? I mean hypothedically, is it possible this disease can spread in this manner? understand equipment and waders should be cleaned before leaving those infected areas, but is the DEP considering  cleaning stations ? just thought it is a good subject for conservation.

from the articles that i have read its a water born pathogens and can survive only a few hr out of water the disease is a natural occurrence and is sped up by man due to mass amounts of raw sewage from say the street run off or a septic not working correct or other activity's done by man in theory it can affect a stream or a pond that is small and does not have the water turn over that a larger lake would so treat your fish with care wash it off be for cleaning and dispose of it as if rickkey the raccoon is looking for a free meal see articles at odnr or Ontario web site

yes they cannot cross from one to another if cooked not a problem so just cook it , its a wasting thing like  deer, they will not eat so unless you snag them or net them you will not have a problem larger water does not have the problem due to water turn over a solution to pollution is dilution or from some peeps say

over the hill, thanks for reminding me the link .. i read that some time ago.. leadmen you saying it is from raw sewage and happens naturally this VHS? Well if that is the case , why in all my 35 yrs fishing have I never seen baitfish restrictions like we are seeing ? I mean 9 dollars a dozen for disinfected fish? why not allow locals disinfect there own baitfish if this is a natural disease or pathogen? Sounds fishy to me
