in the clarion here are my choices. 1. brown beadhead woolly buggers #10-#12 2. orange or yellow humpy's #10-#12 3. royal & lime trudes #10-#12 4. #12 - #10 cork poppers greem/yellow with brown or yellow legs. 2 long yellows feathers for a tail 5. greenish to olive/white clousers 6. wullf patterns in the larger sizes. big waters go with big flies! 7. **** creek stone flies #10-#12 8. a stick of dynomite with a long enough fuse it doesn't explode on the forward cast

they're simular. i myself can't tie a **** creek. can't figure out how to. a ted stone works well also. (i forgot this on my list.) it's tied just like the montana stone only use tobacco brown for the body and either orange or yellow works for the thorax.

On the Allegheny my two best flies are big black beadheaded wooly buggers and Clousers. Blue/white and chartreuse/yellow seem to be the best colors for me with the clousers.

here's a site for the Montana stone " http://www.flytyingforum.com/index.php?showtopic=10953&hl=" it's not a hard fly to tie. . heck i can even tie it and it don't look to bad lol . it's the 4th one down, there's a lot of patterns on this page that are good for beginners and one that has been tied for a long time. let me know what you all think of this and if it helps you out.

How about presentation? I've been using a high popping roll cast with a little peice of strike putty about 18 inches up the tippet. When it hits the water, they have been attacking it in seconds.

White Zonker, Chatreuse over White/Olive over light Brown/Brown over Orange Clouser deep minnow, Olive Wooly Bugger, orange foam beetle, Hare Sculpin, hopper imitations, Madam X... all very effective in my experience.

woolly buggers are your best guest pure and simple. Though if you are tying it'd be great to invest (if you don't have already..) flashabou. Put at the tail end with the Marabou it makes it almost a jig of sorts, very flashy. Catch bass all the time with them even at lakes that really don't have much bass.

DoubleTaper I have the same problems with **** Creeks. I got one for Christmas (came with a nice rod I got from Cabelas) and 5 months later I took it apart to see how to tie it. Really it's those white looking things that look like biots and black and orange chenille wrapped together. after that hackle is wrapped around and the wire (red) is there to secure it, then tie off the wire. I personally don't like it, way to heavy for my 7 foot 5 weight, not big on big flies. But I guess some people have had success using it..

Dalhberg Diver is the only way to go, but only if you've got the rod to throw it. Don't mess around with anything less than a 7 wt., or possibly a strong 6 wt. I get them on those all summer everywhere I fish, Elk, Oil, Potomac... They are great. The other plus to them is that you won't have to mess around with chubs and panfish like you often do with smaller flies and streamers. Really, unless you are an experienced tier, just buy them. It's alot of work to make those!
