difference between Bobber & indicator?

Just wondering. Don't do much fishing with neither bobber nor indicator but figured I'd give it a shot after a beat down on the water a while back. I have bobbers from back in my baiting years.. and no indicators. Any significant difference?

    flyfisherman,
Well, in my impure understanding of the descriptions.  A bobber is designed to support the bait in a suspended manner.  An indicator may, or may not, support the lure and cna even sink with the lure and is used as a visual aid to determine a strike when the lure may not be visible.   I have some indicators that definately do not float or even attempt to support the lure (mainly flies) but they are brightly colored and can tell me when my fly  (nymph) has stopped moving (indicating a strike).  Conversly I have some indicators that dor support my flies and also provide a visual reference as to what my fly is doing.
Some people even use a very visible fly as an indicator when fishing a barely visible fly.
        Hope this confuses you!  LOL
