Johnsonburg area question

I will be staying outside of Kane next week and Johnsonburg seems to be the best access to the Clarion. Anyone know any areas I can access the river there. I know about the E. Branch but would like to fish the main stem. There seems to be a road down the north side called grasy rd. Is there access here? It dead ends at what looks like some ponds. With the price of gas I really dont want to be driving around. I C & R and flyfish only.

Fished East Branch two weeks ago,did well in the delayed harvest and below the dam, right behind the restraunt.Caught a lot of brookies and a few browns. The west branch of the clarion below the flyfishing area still has fish, well it did .If i was heading up this weekend,East branch would be the spot, the water stays much colder and there are plenty of fish to be caught. Good luck finding the Allegheny river in Kane, grew up there and was there last weekend,i didn't see it,have to call mom and see if they moved the river, maybe it flows through her yard now, will have to move back.

Thanks for the replys. what I am really asking is if anyone knows how to access the Clarion between Johnsonburg and Ridgway. I will be staying in Kane and would like to fish the clarion. I do know the river does not go through Kane. Just wanted to get some info to cut the gas consumption down.

I have only fished the section once but would like to fish it more often.

When I went I came from Ridgeway on 219 and just before you get into Johnsonburg there is a convenience store on the left, turn just past the conveneince store and there is a road that takes you over the railroad tracks and there is a place you can pack along the river.  That is about the only access point I know.  That section seems hard to access.

I live a few houses away from the grassy road, the PGC gated it last fall. Most guys park at the Grant street bridge and fish toward Ridgway, the other way is posted by the paper mill.Best bet may be to walk the tracks between the grassy road and the river but it is really thick along the river.I believe Loves canoe in Ridgway will rent you a canoe if you want to go that route. The ponds you mentioned are old lagoons used by the paper mill years ago lots of bluegills, crappy and bass there, but it's a long walk on a hot day.
    good luck

No, you can't park at the gate without blocking it and getting fined for sure. You can park along the street where the houses are except at the last house, nice log cabin,it is posted no parking there.
