Preque Isle Bay Camping

I'm taking up trip up to the bay this weekend, I've never been there before.  I'd like to find a nice campground in the area or one that is on the water.   Any help is appreciated.

    Neither one is what you would expect from a typically campground.  Sara's is at the foot of the peninsula in the shadow of walemeer park, But is located right on the water and they will let you throw up a tent on the beach.
     
    Lampe marina is kind of like camping in the middle of a city, but is directly ajacent to the exit channel of PI.....

    Better too far back, than too far forward.

    I spent a week last summer at Lampe Marina/campground.  Great place, not a lot of trees (none) yet, but a brand new facility.  Shower/restrooms are brand new.  You can rent space for your boat at the marina, or keep it on the trailer.  The launch is only about 100 yards away.  Great spot.
