Spray the threads with wd-40 and let it sit for a minute. You could also try heating it with a hair dryer so it expands and lets loose, a torch might be too hot.

metal or plastic seat? If metal give it a little WD-40 and let it sit a few minutes. If it is plastic (like most spinning rods) wrap cold/wet rags around the body of the seat and blow hot air on the nut with a hair dryer. If you have a chest freezer stick it in there for an hour first to get the whole thing cold, then blow the warm air on the nut. Should loosen it up.

Must say though, all of the plastic seats that I've had that stuck have broken at the nut/hood junction and had to be replaced.

    Thanks
