New to loyalhanna Lake

I have just started fishing loyalhanna lake recently.  Can anyone give me any pointers.  I didn't have much luck the day I was there, the water was still kinda cold, it wask murky and it didn't seem like anyone else was catching much.  I'm not even sure what all the lake has in it.  Any info is appreciated, thanks.

If from shore there are not many places to get to areas that are abundant for fish.  At the launch there are some areas but only small panfish and bass.  If fishing from boat,  down near the dam deep there are supposed to be musky and walleye,  best if trolling from what I've heard.  Crankbaiting the shoreline where it has a drop off is where Ive had the best results for large mouth.  Brush piles and cover.  Crappie are abundant and all over.  Where ever there is a tree in the lake you can figure on a few crappie and scattered blue gill.  Have never caught a perch but they have been caught in good numbers.  Most bass are caught and then released,  many 4-6 pounders.

Hope all helps,  Good Luck and tight lines

thanks for the info, I will be fishing from a small boat.  How far is the dam from the boat launch?  I will be in kayak and would be able to travel a good distance but of course not as far or as fast as a motored boat.

I am bad at estimating distances but I would quess that the dam is a good 600 yds from the launch.  I might be very wrong though.  It takes about 10 minutes with a 20 hourse power engine at full.  But all the area around the dam is a no wake area so being in a kayak would be good water to fish.    Crappie like to hang out under any debris near the baorder near the dam.  Also in deeper water is hear where the waleye hand out.  Will usualy be in a blue bass tracker with fishing bud if out there.  Good Luck and hpe info helps...

You may be able to launch from shore right at the dam...i think there is access for shore anglers nearby.
