Directions to Loyalhanna Lake

I haven't been there for a while.  Might give it a try soon.  Can anyone give me directions to Loyalhanna Lake?  I am coming from Johnstown.

come down rt 22 into New Alexandria, maks a right onto rt 981 (north) go appx. 2 miles or so and you will come to a big Y in the road there you will see a sign to the "Bush recreation area" To the left, bear left at thet Y and you will come right to the boat launch. The docks are in already. If you want more info please PM me

Thanks trouthater.  Is there any place to buy minnows out that way?

    Hi Walt
May give it a try for those panfishes.  Had kind of a slow weekend just past.  Don't know what was the matter.  Will keep trying though.

If you're coming from us22 and follow 981 you will be on 286, follow it past Loyallhana. It will cross 380. Past that point, probably a mile on the right side is a bait shop. I can't remember the name for the life of me(templeton's?, stapleton's?), even though I've been there numerous times.. but I highly recommend them.

It is stapletons, they don't have the bait shop anymore if anything they might have some crawlers or something in the store but nothing close to what they use to.

On your way down, detour towards Brush Valley on Route 56.  About 3 miles past United High School you will see Mock's Sporting Goods on your right.  Pay attention or you will miss it.  He sells minnows and other live bait.  That's probably your best bet.  I can think of no other place between J-town and New Alexandria.
