Uh-oh.  Don't mention the chain stores!  FishUSA flies here, as does your local bait shop.  Where are you local to?  That might help with user's giving you bait shop locations.  Personally, I love Poor Richards.  Love the smell, the prices, and they are very helpful with stream conditions/baits of choice.

Depends what your looking for; cheap colored feathers or yarn, try the local fabric shop or craft store. Top quality materials like those to spin deer hair flies your local sporting store or mail order.

I look at yard sales for furs, second hand stores, hunting and yes road kills. One yr alone I collected 12 deer tails. I travel the same roads and know that they are new or old kills. Keep your eyes open and the opportunities are endless.

FlyFishers Paradise when I need something NOW... or a neck or something.

FishUSA is hard to beat as far as speed! The downfall is they dont have a lot.

I would never buy hackle online. NEVER!

Depending on where you're from buy locally if you can.  If you've got a fly shop or bait shop that sells materials in your area give them your business.

If you are getting tips and information from a local vendor or guide as to what is "hot", what techniques work best, which pattern to use, hatch nformation etc then why would you not buy what you need from that businessman who is answereing your questions?  So, you can save $2 on a box of hooks........does 'Hook and Hackle"  give you local information?

Just to clarify. i live in the eastern panhandle of wv...and don't have local vendors/shops nearby to support...most of my purchases are done on line....when in Erie i try to stock up on supplies from the bait shops up there, most of them have better selections than chain stores, just no online purchase options....
