Shenango lake level

Does anyone know the current lake level at Shenango? or an army corp website or something which reports daily lake levels there?

Thanks in advance

Call 724-962-4384 for daily updates on Shenango.  Yesterday the level was 898+ and the water temp was a frigid 44 degrees.

Went up today. Water is still 44 degrees. I checked 4 areas of the lake. I checked 15 brushpiles in water from 5ft to 21ft. No crappies in sight. None ! I saw some fish in 32ft water down by the mahaney area but the wind was up to high to try to fish them. No fish today. They have to let some of that water out or it will be mid-may before it warms up to 60. Any body doing any better?

We have not even thought of trying yet Chauncy given the water temp and recent weather.  This weekend's sun and warmth will start helping.  I guess you found the fish to still be deep out in Kentucky Lake?   I'm hearing similar information from coworkers in Tennessee.  They only had a sporadic shallow spawning bite.  Keep searching!   We expect to hear more positive reports from you in a few weeks.

Fished in the launch bay today. Water temps was 54 when i started at 9: and 57 when i left at 3:30. I slow trolled/drifted in 15 ft over brush. Got 28 crappies but only kept 10. I had a hook and minnow on one and a spoon and nibble on the other. It was close but the spoon caught most of the keeper size. Also caught some smaller ones on a green jig.

Good job Chauncy!   Shenango sounds ready for action.   We were going to hold off until the end of next week, but the end of this week is starting to sound attractive barring a major weather change.   It sounds like you found them where we were at the end of Oct / beginning of Nov last fall.

Yeah. They weren't in the regular spring spots so i checked the deeper water and they were stacked in there. I checked up at the celery farm bay and nothing happening there yet. Might see you there this weekend.

The doctor must have your shoulder set up for 10,000,000 more casts?   I'm glad you are out there for the action.   How bad were the storms up that way?   The radar looked pretty bad in that direction.  Given the forecast of E and NE winds through Sunday, we may choose to wait for next Friday or Saturday.  The sunshine should keep helping the lake temps, but E and NE wind is almost always bad news for fishing.

Don't believe that wind direction stuff. Shenango is a lake that you can get out of the wind from any direction. As for the saying " winds from the east", I C&R over 75 keepers today. Got em all fishing jigs and nibbles over brush in 15ft water. Find the fish and they'll bite. Should be on the banks in a week or two. None of the ones i caught had their spawn colors on.

Top notch on the 75!   I know the wind can be escaped from, but have too many other hobbies at this time of the year.  Keep them biting for us.

I fished Shenango at the Farm today. I caught 36 crappie, 10 bluegill, 1 white bass, and 2 channel cats. The wind had a little bite to it in the morning, but the day was good.

That is good news.  The sun should be warming the water to get the fish shallow.   The forecast just improved for later next week too.   We should stay warm for 1 week+.

That's good to hear because we're probably getting the boat out this weekend and I plan on targeting some shallow bass on the fly.
