Another fisherman lost?

I saw on the news this evening a boat with two fisherman capsized in Presque Isle bay today.  One of the fisherman was rescued, but the other one is missing.  They said the boat was about 50 yards off shore when it went over.  Another fisherman went to the rescue of the men in the water, but could only save one.  The poor guy who attempted to pull the second fisherman from the water was really upset when he realized he could not save them both.  Divers were brought in to look for the body, but had to give up the search this evening.  They will start again tomorrow morning.

Be careful out there.  This makes three fisherman lost in just a few days.

That's a real shame and a powerful reminder to wear the PFD's when the water is this cold.

On the news this morning they said the search for his body will continue this morning.  I sure hope they find him, not only for his family's sake, but also so that some poor hiker or kid does not come across him later this spring or summer.  I can only imagine how horrible that could be.

If you are thinking about hitting the Bay or the lake this weekend, please be careful and wear you PFD.

From the map in the paper, the boat capsized in almost the exact spot were the 2007 freezeout was held.w_w.

If it has fins and gills, I'm there.

That thought occurred to me also.  50 yds from shore.  That's scary.

I was up at Preque Isle yesterday afternoon and there was no one looking for the guy.  The news said they will resume the search today.  Sure hope they find him.

Please be careful this weekend.  Even though the air temp is warming up, the water is still cold.  Look at these fellows, only about 50 yards off shore and they could not make it to safety.  Cold water kills, quickly.  NO fish is worth risking your life for.

The man was found on Friday.  He was 62 and from Mill Creek.w_w.

If it has fins and gills, I'm there.
