Gettysburgh Area?

I just found out that I will be heading over to Gettysburgh this June.

I livemapped it and there are a couple of creeks in that area that look very nice. There was one on the west side that was not named on the map, and Rock creek on the east side of town.

Is anybody here familiar with that region?

Just over the South Mtn. is a nice Trout stream. Runs through Calidonia State Park.
Most of the water around Gettysburg is warm water I think? Not really sure. Maybe that's what you're hunting?

Warm water wouldn't be bad. The only warmwater fish that I've caught were bluegill, and they were pretty fun. I wouldn't mind catching a bass or two either. I'll look for that state park and stream too though.

    Thanks!

    Pete,
In and around Gettysburg there is a lot of POSTED water.  Even where you wouldn't think it was posted.  If you can get permission there is also some very good trout fishing and some nice smallmouth fishing.  Check it out and ask first.

I'll be mindfull of that. So far I'm looking at the Conowago, listed as as having a good variety of warm and cold water fish with a dhffo section. If I stick to that I shouldn't step on any toes. I'll also check a local tackle shop to see if they have any tips or good local flies.

Depending on how far you're willing to travel, if you take Rt. 30 west just before the county line is Carbaugh Run. I've fished it before and it's, in my opinion, an excellent stream. Well worth the drive.

I suggest staying with Conowago if you are interested in trout fishing. The special reg. area should be fishing well then and there are a couple of streams within a few miles that can break up the trip.
If the water is dirty travel north to Boilinging Springs and fish the lake, run,or Yellowbreeches. It is about a 40 minute drive and well worth it. There is also Mountain creek in Mounthollysprings is on the way. You can fish the headwaters for native Brookies or above town for stocked and a few wild browns.
This is atleast a few weeks worth of fishing so I hope I am not confusing you.
