I like 1/64 on for most conditions but 1/32 are also very effective.  Normally hook sizes 8 to 10

I use white black and brown chartruese and orange heads along with chrome.  I just buy cabelas fisherman series livebait jigs.  They r a little lite wire for steelhead but never had one break on a fish.  You get a snag and generally pull them out and just bend them back.  I lose a fair share so the cheapos work for me but there are stronger better jigs out there for sure.

Here's one called the "Tweaker" from Kramer's Jigs.  I bought a few and then tied a couple dozen 1/16 and 1/32.  They do work.

Another option for jigheads:  tie on dumbell eyes to a jig hook (about a sz 8).  For about the same profile (not front view) as a 64th you get about 1/30th ounce to cast and get down quicker.  Still not sure it's worth the effort, though, but have caught a few with them.  And speaking of effort... mixing colors:  I do it sometimes, but I'm not sure it matters much - maybe?  I'm convinced mixing some flash with the fur or feathers is worth it - but still take a couple small ones that don't have any (and some that are all flash).  I've only been doing this for a couple years, though.
