You can shoe them in for 9-8 or 10-7 and get blasted in the wildcard. This is the standard

I say it's time to cut Arthur Smith and George Pickens and send them down the road. It's easy to see why Atlanta cut their losses with Smith, and Pickens is a Prima Donna who cannot, will not, does not want to grow up and listen to the ear beatings Tomlin has given him about his behavior. Let's face it, he's certainly no Swan or Stallworth. The Steelers have been down that road two or three times in the recent past. I don't care how good he is (when they can get him to play), he's a boat anchor to the team and his actions demoralize the entire team. Cut him immediately in the off season. And send Harris with him. He can only run straight ahead, not sideways and then down field, and in the passing game he has huge holes in his hands.

Whenever you want to know what the Democrats are up to, watch what they accuse the other side of doing.

I’m hoping Pickens crushes it in the playoff game, so they can get some trade value from him. If you cut him and get nothing, you might as well do a wholesale rebuild. When he isn’t playing at his best, this offense can’t do anything. When he is playing at his best, they aren’t too bad. His attitude has been a trend of Steelers WRs under Tomlin. Although, it seems to be a trend in the NFL in general. Tyreek Hill is a prime example and imagine many others that aren’t on winning teams likely have the local sports reporters covering them. Unfortunately they all can’t be Larry Fitzgerald.
Which is why I think Smith should get another year, if he is available and there isn’t another proven OC out there. I do think his bland offensive scheme can do well IF their O line solidifies and don’t have their top WR taking half of the plays off. Remember their #1 pick was on IR all season, Broderick Jones can’t seem to play both tackle sides, Semalu was out a chunk of the season and two rookies will now have a season under their belts. They should have a solid line.
If they can sign Harris cheap, he is the better early down back. If they had a consistently average O line, he’d be averaging 100 per game if featured. Warren is a change of pace back. If they don’t sign Harris, don’t expect Warren to be their #1, or at least be effective at it. A lot less holes on early downs and many gaping holes when third and long, to end up getting 6-7 yards, which really manipulates the YPC stats. Harris rarely gets carries in those situations. His long runs are usually against defenses focusing on the run. He’s no Barkley or Henry, but their line isn’t equal to theirs either. He would be a top 5 RB behind a quality line, which I think Steelers line is trending towards. The RB position is starting to change in NFL value. I’m not sure if they can get a top level back in round 3-4 like they could a couple years ago. Seems like teams are shifting to valuing the position a bit more. If Scattebo is available in 2nd round, fans would love that guy.

Steelers lost this game in the 1st half. This is supposed to be a great defense.....highest paid in the NFL....but couldn't stop anyone when it counted. The offense is pathetic. I did not expect that bringing in a retread QB like Wilson was gonna magically turn this into a SB team, but they have looked anywhere ranging from bad to horrendous over the past 5 weeks. Tomlin does not have the answer for any of this. His defense is predictable it's always the same scheme and everyone in the NFL knows how to beat it. On offense he is clueless and he can't even bring someone in that's capable of fixing it. The entire coaching staff should be let go, it's not gonna get better until this happens.

Highest paid Defense in the NFL. Lowest paid Offense in the NFL. SO, if the defense plays below expectations, they have no chance.

Wow, did Mark Andrews have a rough day. Three turnovers and countless dropped ball, still almost won. Would be nice to see Bills and Skins. Go Hogs!

A week after Stillers predictable departure, I’m ready to think next year…. Beyond the obvious, which won’t happen in firing Tomlin, what do they do. Again, since Tomlin isn’t going anywhere, they won’t entertain a rebuild. They MIGHT be a contender if Mahommes/Allen/Jackson fell out of a tree and onto their roster. But that isn’t happening. So many holes exposed if you don’t have that franchise QB. You need to be completely solid everywhere and have a competent QB, which is the Eagles formula. Stillers have too many other holes to fill to be that. So, I am not even going to guess what they can do to contend without canning Tomlin and rebuilding.
I know a dream, but fire Tomlin and rebuild. Get as much draft capital that anyone willing to pony up for Watt, Heyward, Fitzpatrick and Pickens. Keep all of the young OL, DL & LBs. Guys that will hit their primes in 2-3 years. Sign Fields and whatever RBs are cheapest. Run 75% of the time and plan for a 3-14 season. Build the team with youth and target the franchise QB of the future next draft. If Fields turns into a stud, great. He likely will never be a top 10 QB though. Ben in his prime had maybe a year or two as top 5, but most of his career top 10.
They need to let Queen walk. His contract was actually pretty smart by Stillers. This past year wasn’t all that much. Next year is Pro bowl level. If they cut him by March, they save a ton. Payton Wilson outplayed Queen (according to PFF) as a rookie. If he stays healthy, could be the backbone of the defense after the rebuild.
Go after one of the proven OCs. One that has shown the ability to game plan with the roster they have and not to try to force players into their scheme. Unless a complete rebuild and able to do so. Kahn has seemed to do well the past few seasons, I could see him finding a coach that isn’t satisfied with maybe making the playoffs.

Rooney's are cheap when it comes to staff. Tomlin might make a premium, but Austin and Smith aren't, let alone position coaches and scouting dept. Art is happy going 10-7 and collecting his 400 million check from the NFL...this is the new norm.
