Pop up ads on the computer for things you looked up when considering a purchase. They never get the message you have made the purchase already and do pop ups for weeks on the same items.

Now sure, stuck to a chair for an hour but not stumbling around acting a fool. Just stuck there not bothering anyone, obviously foolish too. 
 
I started in the early '70's, but by the time the early '80's rolled around, pot had become so poweful that after just 3 tokes, your brains were drippin' out your ears onto your shoulders and you were STUPID for about 3 hours. Now, the growers have refined it to a poison. When Colorado was the first to legalize, google how many automotive accidents there were with drivers under the influence of a controlled substance. I was a recreational user 45 years ago but wouldn't dare touch it now, even for the glaucoma.

Marijuana is a rather complex plant, it contains many chemicals with THC being the “high”, possibly others in it too that give some sort of high. They have the strains now that go from a “Coors Cutter” to grain alcohol. There are some strains that have been refined to have the most THC and basically a poison as you noted, just like pure alcohol is a poison. They have also worked on many strains with only trace amounts of THC or possibly eliminated, but filled with the other chemicals that help with glaucoma or seizures and basically eliminate the THC. It is just like how they make seedless grapes or other plants from selective breeding and other techniques.

From what I have been told from friends that still use, the legal states and medical dispensaries are much more organized and have an idea what you are getting. If you want the glaucoma stuff and no buzz, it is available. You want glaucoma relief and a slight buzz, there is that. Just like the booze, some are fine with a few light beers or glasses of wine. Others feel like they need to be drinking as close to pure alcohol as possible and not satisfied unless falling over drunk. I do think many states put limits on how strong though, just like booze. Their upper limits on both booze and marijuana are arguably way too high for recreational use.

case in point from personal experience..
 
In my knucklehead dayz, a good friend ate quaaludes (714's) like Pez .
He's down 3 and 4 at a time.
I hated them, as just one would have me walking sideways and falling down
but I could drink a pint of 101proof  bourbon in a couple hours (and did regular when I was bouncing)  and not be near as forked up while dancing with bar babes like Denny Tarrio

No doubt. With street traded marijuana, you have no clue what you are getting though, until you end up with certain connections/trust of a dealer. Are you getting that 151 rum level potency or are you getting the Miller Lite level? If it were just marijuana, so be it, luck of the draw. Most have an idea of what you are getting by the look and smell of it. Now days, street drugs have a much greater chance of getting laced with stuff like fentanyl than ever. Sure, back in the day guys would lace with other stuff and usually sell to people knowingly paying more for it being laced. Now, there are people dying or having life long issues from what they think is just taking a puff of weed. Legalize it and put your resources to fentanyl and other drugs that really tear lives apart. PA is already half way there with the medical. If need be, set it up like the LCB stores and collect even more state taxes from it.

The ONLY thing anyone that has ever used it before, can maybe call it a “gateway”, is that you met/purchased from a dealer or found those connections. That possibly can get you other drugs. That is the only “gateway” that marijuana is. Legalization solves that. No doubt there will be older people selling to younger people. But at least they aren’t selling them actual poison.

Obviously, you have the insider knowledge of current drug culture. My bad.

I’m not saying it is some widespread epidemic. But you can’t put on the local news for more than a month without hearing about busts of fentanyl laced pills or other drugs being laced. I’d personally put more trust in state drug inspectors (that are already in place for medical side) than the scumbags that are making a quick buck by lacing illicit drugs doing the same with marijuana.

As a past narco detective  of many years am getting a kick outa recent posts.
One thing I hear from the few still at it who I know they commonly say Marijuana is dangerous on the street purchases now as its so often laced with things even some sellers arent aware of--
buyer beware.

Maybe I am duped by the weed thing? I did notice most sites that I saw about laced with fentanyl were mostly from addiction centers. But on the flip side, those saying reports are false, are “weed” council type sites…. Mike Dewine cited it in reasoning of backing Ohio legalizing. I may have heard this from him back then. I heard it about it from parents locally that I am sure was probably social media spread stuff too.

Back in the 90s-00s, I met plenty of small time dealers. I couldn’t see most of them doing it purposely, even if profitable. Most of those guys were stand up dudes more doing a service by small time dealing, usually to pay for their habits and beer money. Although I did meet a few really shady characters back then that I could see mixing K2 or other synthetic weed if it was available back then and financially advantageous. Not sure if they’d go fentanyl level, unless they were getting dirt cheap. If they are cutting it into illicit drugs to bump their profits, what is stopping them? If, it is financially advantageous, they aren’t just doing for fun. I’d think in reality though, more chances of being mixed with synthetic weed and looks like shake in the bag. But not sure if there is even brick weed any more? First few years that I smoked, that was all I ever saw. The last few years that I partook, I hadn’t seen anyone with brick weed and every bag was basically a large lolly pop bud with very little shake. But how sticky that stuff was, I can imagine it would be easy to spray something on and not know.

Still know some who are real lifers with the various drugs and have lived long enough to be careful and act normal even with some lifelong addictions. We, in some cases despite opposite ends in our younger years, have established a couple of great friendships. Even got a couple into rehab in old times.
They too say ya dont know anymore whats on the streets and do their thing VERY carefully. A couple are much harder core than whats being discussed here.
Despite around 16 in a dedicated narc unit I always felt peple do what they do but arent always bad people.
We got along well lol,

Back in the days they said that loud and often we always said he biggest dealers we generally took out were white guys in midlife who got in early and were smart enough to get good at it over years.
Sooner or later we took off quite a number of the untouchables.
Street and bar dealers were more numerous and easy prey as so many snitched on them as they became nuisances so there was a disparity in pinches, in our area and surrounding cites  we made sincere effort at the bigger cases along with the street stuff.
Street narcs did a lot of the nuisance pinches but some of us were deeper and looked higher and took a lot of time getting there sometimes.
**** fake registrations and working geographical areas not ,limited to one jurisdiction with a healthy budget helped a lot.

no one is putting expensive fentanyl is pot and selling it as regular pot.
Any pot laced with additional substances to enhance it charges for it and buyer is aware.
 
Now, can some dikbrain  offer someone laced drugs and not tell them if laced...as a "joke"

Back in the day, some dikhead laid out a line on the bar and told the bartender it was coke, have a snort.
It was really crystal tee (which makes you chitfaced  fck'd up and NOTHING like coke)  He thought it was funny.

That's how my first wife (EX at the time)  died of a heroin overdose in '99

Agree 100% and I have no doubt what your fellow officers mentioned about the amount they find with other drugs mixed in. I just looked into the fentanyl/marijuana claim after Genie called it bogus. Not saying it definitely is bogus by any means, but being almost all drug treatment centers as sources is sort of fishy. I think it really comes down to costs. If they can combine two things that will make them more money, there are definitely some scumbags that have no morale dilemma doing it. Like I said a few back, there are some that are intentionally selling laced to people that are knowingly buying laced (or whatever term you want to call it). Coke or PCP (dust) on weed was something a few guys that I knew that went a bit off of the deeper end did. Dealers likely aren’t going to sell that to someone looking for just weed, unless they paid them the cost of covering both. Not sure if most street dealers would let them know it isn’t just weed either. So, I’d imagine fentanyl is similar. If there is a demand for it, there will be someone supplying that demand. Hopefully there isn’t ever a major demand for that mix. I don’t know the current culture myself.
