Last time I tried to donate a deer was the last time.
Had to be professionally butchered and all meat ground to 3 lb packages all labeled and dated  with the processors ID- then had to be delivered to the shelters kitchen at a pre determined time within so many hours of being butchered.
All the while on the phone getting my instructions a certain tone and attitude came through loud and clear.
It was like==If you reeeeeally want to donate this is what you must do.
Actually was going to do it but the negativity turned me right off.
Have always felt a real anti was on the phone,
Same place was always happy for a Ham or Turkey.

I use a HUSH approved processor. Drop it off and fill out a simple slip and that's it. No cost at all.

Nice start DPMS!

Haven’t been out for deer in 2B yet. Took my son squirrel hunting today.

Is HUSH affiliated with the PGC?

Our processor stop donations through the PGC program because they required weighing in/weighing out to the ounce for every deer, not just donated ones and with the amount of specialty stuff they make it became a logistical nightmare they no longer wanted to deal with.

I think it was called Hunters Sharing the Harvest.

The issue the processor had was if the 1,000 or so deer he did, about a dozen got donated, but the PGC wanted the by ounce documentation for all of them, not just the donated ones.

Forget to post report here from this past Saturday, saw a 4 pt, small 10 pt (less than 5 yds and broadside at 10 yds) and multiple does/fawns.  Good evening out before the rain came in.

Last night, saw a new, slightly better 10 pt, that came in to about 30 yds.  Have decent phone video and a snapped a few bad pics with the phone.  Saw the same, small 10 pt from Sat. 20 min. before dark; came out on same trail as he did on Saturday.  Didn't bother to vid or snap pics this time.  Saw a doe and fawn on the way in.  Sat. AM may be my next chance out since work stuff this afternoon and I have to pick up my daughter from school in State College Friday evening....I will be letting this spot rest for a week or more now.  Fear I am stinking it up to much, too early.

Had a great hunt tonight in 2B. No sooner did I climb up in the stand than a doe fed out into the shady corner of the hayfield where I had my stand. She fed my way and I was able to get a good shot on her at 22 yards. Went about 70 yards into a jungle. I was able to get her taken care of and out of the field by 5:30 so hopefully, I didn't booger it up too much. Dropped off number 2 at the processor and back home before it got dark.

Had one of my big shooters that I had on camera this summer at 50 yards. He came out with a smaller buck but never came close enough for even this crossbow guy to shoot. I just won't shoot 50, especially where I am hunting. Saw three bucks and two does.

Mrs. Yote got the big doe that eats her flowers/shrubs last night. We laughed that she probably taught all her offspring over the last 4/5years  to munch them also.

Been seeing more younger bucks cruising in daylight. Had two nearly identical 8 points come by me at 4:30 Friday afternoon. I am still on doe patrol in this management hunt but the deer have been winning lately.

We have 20 hunters and I believe we are up to about 40 deer taken so far. Last yer, the crew took 50 the entire season so hopefully, we smash that number and the borough is happy.

Passed up a fairly decent 8 PT Friday evening.   Saturday evening, kicked out 2 on my way in (trailcam showed they were a small 8 and small spike) but got blanked on stand.  Acorn rain the entire sit.  One nailed me on my thumb, right on the knuckle, still hurting today.  Lol

Did my first sit of the year this morning in a place my dad who passed away last spring started taking me hunting 35 years ago. It was nonstop action from daybreak till I shot this 8 pt a little past 9 am. Seen 9 does and one deer I couldn't make out before he came through at 15 yds. Not the biggest but felt right taking this deer this year at this location.

Well, the main property I hunt during the rut has been decimated by EHD. We haven't got a buck picture in two weeks. We figure at least about 46 deer have succumbed on the 300 acres after doing some math after some body counts. I may give it a go for a day or two to make sure the cameras are not lying but this leaves me scrambling a bit for the annual November rutcation. My other local properties don't set up well for the rut but I may have to make the best of it.

Thanks guys. Deer were moving this morning as one of my friends took a decent 8 pt and another hunting a Pittsburgh park passed on 4 decent bucks this morning. Hope the heat doesn't slow things down this week for those who are out.

Well that’s a bummer Gene. Time to expand your horizons and check out some new areas. Don’t discount any public places down that way anything can happen come the 1st week of November

It sure is. I usually don't step foot on it till November. I do all of my stand and prep work in March but keep in touch with the landowners who run the trail cameras. The creek bottoms and ponds are boneyards. I do have 4-5 properties close to home to hunt so I will most likely be spending more time there in November. I also have another piece of about 100 acres I have permission to hunt, but it does get some decent pressure as it is a farm game coop. I usually don't hunt there till flintlock season.

Got a doe with an in-line today at around 10 am. Watched three of them come in from a little over a hundred yards, dropped the biggest of the group at around 40 yards. The Havalon Piranta knife I got a few years ago made short work of the guts, that knife is worth its weight in gold IMO. I had to walk about a quarter mile to grab my ATV, when I was about 30 feet away... A monster 10 point came walking out ahead of me checked me out, and walked off.

Been pretty slow the last few weeks for me. A few doe here and there but all too far and quite a few smaller bucks making laps trying to figure out why they are so fired up but the ladies won't play.

So far I shot two does there. Our group of 20 hunters is up to 52 deer so far. Last year it was 54 for the entire season so we should that by a fair amount if the guys keep hunting.
