how long can you actually stay out?
i was out by the yacht club today and eventually it got late and kept telling myself 5 more minutes and then it was dark, i had a lantern so i was good, started getting together and when im about to start towing the sled away i hear "PLEASE GET OFF THE ICE, NO FISHING AFTER DARK" from a megaphone ( i think) and i saw a spotlight where it was coming from, the third parking lot, and i just started wondering, are there hours for ice fishing on the bay?

Depends where you access the bay from. From the city side it's 24/7 but from the park side its dawn to dusk.

fish off the city side and u can fish all night. If u go off p.i. and park there the "rangers" will make u get off the ice. This is why i almost never fish off of p.i.
i have been fishing off the EYC and have had the same thing happen to me. i find it funny when i am fishing after dark and i hear them telling me to get off the ice.
how was the fishing off the EYC today? thinking about fishing there mid-week..........

slow, friends managed a few perch, a lot of smelt where we were, saw them on the camera to..

Can you tell me where you acsess the bay near the yacht club? I know about Sommerheim, but you have to be out of there at dark too. Thanks

I think Ferncliff may allow parking after dark. but I'm not certain. Most places other than Chestnut close at dark even on the city side.w_w.
If it has fins and gills, I'm there.

how has it been viewing with a camera? I noticed as of late, there are times I can barely see my 1st line that is 1 foot on front of my camera and forget about seeing my 2nd line 2 foot from my camera. Although fishing off Somerheim Sunday, I was able to see my 2nd line majority of the time being I was shallow in 5 foot of water. Is the clarity getting better else where or deeper water??

jesus christ gentlemen i simply asked the angler in question to have a private inquiry with a MODERATOR rather than post the location of a very small and privately maintained access area. I did this not out of spite to keep anglers from enjoying a sport we all obviously love but out of respect for those individuals who have kindly allowed access there for years. in regard to the chastising comment i was not chastising for giving up a location but rather for posting a reply when the poster didnt really have anything to add to the converataion. sound familiar? Think about it I suggest an appropriate alternative to what otherwise could be a negative situation for everyone only two have joe blow throw his two cents in and overreact. I attempt to make him understand that he is only going to make the situation worse(sarcastically mind you) and now I have two more brilliant minds coming down on me. If I didnt know better Id think I was in Erie

If you would have PM'd both these guys, there wouldn't have been a problem. I understand protecting a private access area but the way you did it here wont be taken very well by the guys on this site. JMO
