Selling your boat when you don't want to sell it...
So I listed my boat a couple weeks back. Should have done it earlier, but I've been avoiding it. I figure that's due to not really wanting to sell it. :) I don't want to haul it to FL with us because of the pain that will be. But it WOULD be useful down there, and I'd have a boat to use while I gather resources to buy a proper saltwater boat.
Put it up for $4750 figuring if someone wanted to pay me $4500 for it that would be a great deal. Zero hits. Dropped it to $4250 and got one offer... for $3250. Had to turn that down though. I bought it for $3K and put quite a bit of work and upgrades into it. Doesn't make it worth $5K or anything, but you aren't going to find may 20' boats around here set up as nice for fishing 20hp lakes. Not in this price range.
Now I'm thinking if I haul it south and sink a couple grand into a repower it would be a great bay boat. Only thing it needs is a 50-90hp engine (18 is a bit weak for the bay) and a proper radio. Plus not many people buying boats up here between now and spring anyway. At least people who aren't looking for a killer deal.
