Gulp doesn’t seem to bleed at all. I have all of my different fresh water in two containers together for years and no difference in color. I am sure the same for saltwater. But not sure if same scent from fish to shrimp to sand flea.

No issues with bleeding when stored in juice, The bleeding of color occurred in dry storage. Regardless, I was pleasantly pleased. I tried mixing a few other color combinations, unfortunately the results were not as productive.

uhhh just make sure if you get that bait locker you make sure the lid is closed tight. even though it didn’t leak into the car fabric my car smells like gulp juice cause it leaked all through my tackle bag and onto a pile of clothes. 🤮

can’t even blame it on my kid 🙄

Lock N Lock containers work too. Learned that from another site. Not sure how cost compares to the bait locker. But can get at just about any store. I tried to buy a cheap generic knockoff and didn’t work. I bought a 5 pack of different sizes and use the smaller two for gulps. The others we use for leftovers.

Looking to make a trip to Lake Arthur next week. Coming from PGH. Any recommendations on a place to launch a kayak that’ll put me near some bass? Trying to avoid having to paddle long distances.

Depends on what you like fishing. Weeds, pads, deep structure, downed shoreline structure, etc. I can’t help on where the bass are in mid summer. There are a lot of places to launch a kayak. Many places that only small crafts can launch from, which makes for a lot less headache at the launch. The South Shore beach area has a non powered craft only launch which holds a variety of fishing options, that is off limits to the powered boat anglers. Porters Cove (next to Bear Run Campground) has a small craft launch with a good amount of weeds to work. The North shore has a small non powered launch at the group camping area that has access to some downed timber. Upper 528 has a small craft launch that has a ton of weeds near. I would avoid McDaniels, Bear Run and 528 Bridge launches, which are the most used by larger boats.

If you use those larger launches especially, do not block the launch itself while loading your kayak, or you will likely end up having words with someone. Use the parking lot to stage your equipment as best as possible, then drive to the lake to unload and move your kayak to the side as quickly as possible, to not block the ramp. Most launches have a shoreline near the launch that you can beach your kayak while you park your vehicle. Trailer boats should be staging and not jamming the launches too, but some don’t. Best to avoid those larger launches on a weekend especially.

Thanks! Weeds, pads, fallen timber are more my interest. Usually good for holding largemouth. With so many launch points I have no problem avoiding the bigger areas.

If you do the south shore beach launch, it is right as you enter the swimming day use area. That area is a 1 way loop, so can get stuck making a 2 mile loop if you are unsure of where to go. Check the satellite view for any of these launches for a good idea on how to access. The old 422 launch is another good option. You should be good with just about any. Might not be the best time of year to slam them, but hopefully get a few.

Again, thank you for the suggestions! It’s definitely slow going this time of year pretty much everywhere. But I enjoy the paddle as much as the fishing. Should be even better in some new waters.

nice launch for a yak at the upper 528 launch that is sparsely used.  can also put in a yak at blakely/burton road way up in the muddy creek arm.  plenty of weeds, pads and timber in that part of the lake, and not too much boat traffic when i'm fishing up that way.  been a few weeks but i was getting a lot of largemouth in the muddy creek arm after dark fishing for wipers.

Hope you guys are able to bag a few before it gets too hot.  Long term forecast looks like a few more weeks of the heat.  I haven't hit the lake in way too long, but I usually don't do all that well in the heat or find the strength to get up at 4AM to get on the lake for the early AM bite...

We launched the boat at 5 am and we threw everything we had at the fish and only got one nice sized cat.
