It was blown out for about a week but it's fishable now, some ice in the slow pools. I haven't fished it in a while, though. I may fish it this weekend if I'm feeling warm enough.

I'll be going to the shop tommorow to pick up my newly replaced sage I'll take a look at the creek and give my reccomendation. I know I have been dying to go but everytime I got enough ambition the creek would be very high and muddy. O well just a few more weeks and the early season stockings. I'll probably get out there before then. We should starting talking about what flies to use. When I go I will probably be using a small salmon egg color glo bug with a size 16 early winter black stonefly behind it. Then a flashback hares ear then who knows, maybe some type of midge imitation?

I'll be at the shop tomorrow to pick up tying supplies, might fish afterwards depending on how I feel. I like fishing sucker spawn with a brassie or disco midge behind it this time of year.

Just got an email from Bob Shuey at the fly shop. March 1 is the first stocking & March 8 is the trophy fish stocking. Get down there and buy some raffle tickets. That is what pays for those beauties.

Was in there today, got a few things along with my newly replaced rod. So get this I sent this thing out in december and it just came in yesterday. What happened was the tube got caught in the connveyer at the ups out going and the rod and tube got snapped completely in half. So when bob got it he had to send it back so sage would send me a whole new rod and tube. The creek looked pretty good. I think I will just wait until the stocking.

I think I was in there when you were because I overheard that conversation about the rod while I was picking supplies up.

Come to think of it you were. When I walked in I over heard bob ask you what your name was and that he coulnt remember. Were you the guy that spent like 250 some dollars, He must have bought some exspensive stuff cause that bag wasnt very full.

Tying supplies added up. I'll probably head back today because I forgot smaller midge hooks.

I fished it for a couple hours today (first time I've fished since December), caught a couple. It needs to be spring soon, can't stand this cold anymore.

    The flow is about perfect.

Maybe it's because I haven't gotten out in a while (it was in the 30's, not that bad), but the cold really ruined it for me. For me to change flies was a chore and almost non-existent.

I have visions of swinging and stripping streamers in the hot sun to willing smallies already.

Yeah so do your part and buy some tickets for the rod raffel. The fish are 5 dollars a pound this year so for there big ones thats going to get expensive and who knows you might win.

It's not fly fishing only, but it's Delayed Harvest, Artificial Lure Only.

    • Open to fishing year-round (no closed season).
    • Fishing hours – One hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset.
    • Minimum size – 9 inches, caught on, or in possession on, the waters under these regulations from one hour before sunrise on June 15 to one hour after sunset on Labor Day.
    • The daily creel limit is three combined species from one hour before sunrise on June 15 to one hour after sunset on Labor Day, caught on or in possession on the waters under these regulations. From the day after Labor Day until one hour before sunrise on June 15, the daily creel limit is zero.
    • Fishing may be done with artificial lures only constructed of metal, plastic, rubber, or wood, or with flies and streamers constructed of natural or synthetic materials. All such lures may be used with spinning or fly fishing gear.
    • The use or possession of any natural bait, baitfish, fishbait, bait paste and similar substances, fish eggs (natural or molded) or any other edible, substance is prohibited.
    • Taking baitfish or fishbait is prohibited.
    • A current trout/salmon permit is required.

To be clear, only the section from behind the flushop in Volan downstream to the covered bridge is artificial lures only.  The rest of the creek is closed from march 1st until opening day of trout.  The entire creek is NOT delayed harvest artificial lures only.
