Floating grass

Anyone know if the allegheny or french creek is loaded with the infamous wads of eel grass yet? Bin searching around and haven't heard or seen any reports of it yet..usually it starts in late August and runs thru September and is cleared up by mid ocotber. Have a possible fishing trip coming up mid October so was just wondering it I'll be battling the grass

I figured it was starting or had started...man it is a pia to fish when it gets thick. I know you can still catch fish but it makes bait presentation a real problem. Thanks for the reply

So does anyone have any tips or techniques/baits they use to combat the floating grass.. I know weedless/t rigged baits would be the go to, just curious if anyone else had a go to lure or presentation when dealing with the grass

    What is a diver?

Diving ducks - red heads, canvasbacks, scaup, golden eyes, etc.

As opposed to dabbling ducks like mallards, teal and wood ducks.

Not sure how your fishing but in a boat and your using lures, every time you wind in stick the rod tip under water. I use this method mostly when I’m Muskie fishing. The weeds don’t catch the line as much and you’ll keep your lure under the weeds.

The prestine waters of French Creek and the waters of the mighty Allegheny aren't alone when it comes to nuisance weed growth.

The Lewis River in Yellowstone has it's fair share too.

Fished from Parker to East Brady this weekend.   Weeds were not bad at all.   Caught a bunch of little small mouth,  a few walleye.  water is low and clear.  water temp still 70°

That's good news KJ. My theory is once the weather/water temps drop then the grass releases from the bottom or dies off and comes loose. Probably right around the time I'll be going fishing of course
