Yellow Creek Lake Draw Down

Just an FYI.  Posted on the DCNR web page:

A lake draw down is currently underway as part of the beach renovation project.  The lake level will be reduced by 4 feet during the middle of August to allow for swimming area excavation.  The lake level will be allowed to return to normal pool as soon as possible after the excavation is completed.  Boat launch, mooring, and boat rental could face access limitations during this period.

Doesnt it seem odd to schedule this during peak season? Wait another 3 weeks and school will be back in and the daily traffic will be drastically reduced.... unless the beach isnt currently usable, I haven't been there in a while.

Beach area has been closed all season due to construction in the day use area.

I fished it last Sunday for the first time and launched using the South ramp nearest the boat concession area. Had to really drop back pretty far to release boat. The worst part was all the weed growth clear out till you finally dropped to ten feet of water. Had to stop several times to clean the prop. I was surprised to see a number of people using the boat concession and kayaking the lake. As for fishing, wasn't very good. I did feel that the water didn't seem very clear.   Lou
