Cap this is a great example for the old proverb........ "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
Give a man a fish and you will feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you will feed him for a life time. ~Anne Isabella Thackeray Ritchie (1837–1919)~ Old fisherman never die; we just smell that way.

I actually remember that digest cover. Had it in a drawer for years. Stayed at a hotel in Jamestown that season and hunted PA around nearby Sugar Grove after taking a buck over by Geneva NY.

I actually had every license and books saved up till now. I asked my kids if anybody wanted them to collect and I had no takers or interested persons so I sold them all to a collector. He told me he had thousands of licenses collected and really didn't know why ....lol I only kept this one for memories the year I started. Nice to look back at the way things were. On anther note does anybody remember a hunting season when they allowed Doe (Antlerless ) deer season to start on the last Saturday of buck season ? I have a friend who swears that happened, but I tend to argue he's wrong. I remember them extending doe season to a Saturday after the two day hunt ,but never starting on the last Saturday of buck season. Any replies welcome .............

Yes. That happened one year. I don't recall which year but they stopped it cause it unexpectedly caused a huge increase in the antlered kill on that last day.

I can't remember the year but am pretty sure it was the year before the brown it's down 1st day of season. That Saturday was an absolute slaughter in my neck of the woods.

1998 and 99 it was junior only on the last day. In 2000 antlerless was legal for all on the last day of antlered. That lasted one year.

Thanks , for some reason I couldn't remember that one. MG....The brown it's down year was the greatest shooting day ever in Pa. hunting ! Now that's the way to thin the herd a tad....not hire pros to shoot deer at night over bait ! I'll never figure the PGC out ...in one breath they don't want hunters shooting (antler restrictions , split or delayed antlerless starters ) the next breath they are saying not enough hunters taking deer in higher deer areas or hunting ! ....go figure ????? WTF do they want ?
