Vortex scope zeroing question

Hey so I just zeroed a viper 6.5-20x50PA on my 308 at 100 yards and I'm pretty new to scope zeroing so I wrote down the adjustments I made between shots and added them at the end just so I know how far from mechanical zero I am. So my final adjustment numbers are 16 clicks up and 56 clicks right at 100 yards so 4 moa up and 14 moa right.
Does that sound normal ? Or does it sound like I wrote something in wrong? Is it normal to use almost half the windage adjustment (14/32.5) when zeroing at 100 on a calm windless day in a field protected by trees?
Is there a way for me to double check how far off I am from mechanical zero? On the turret there's lines marked 2 and 4. Wondering if those are full rotation counters. Also do you guys normally keep track of mechanical zero or do you just plop scopes on new rifles and just zero from wherever they were at before?

    That is an awful lot of windage adjustment.

    I would put it back to mechanical zero, at least for the windage, and use the large windage screw on the rear scope mount base to physically move the scope a bit, the retry to see if it moved enough to get it close enough to use the trurrent windage adjustment.

    I'd be conversing with someone from Vortex. Seriously.

    Other than your rings/mount being the problem, which may be the deal,
    Vortex will work with you as far as what to expect from their scope.

     I've always had Leopold or Redfield. But last year a bought a 4x12 Vortex and put it on my 6.5 Creedmoor. All I can say is hands down the best scope I've ever owned. If memory serves me correctly 6 shots and I was cutting holes at 100 yards,it shoots a 1.5"-1.75" 3 shot group at 200 yards. I probably would be tighter but I'm and old man.lol Good scope. Seems like a tremendous amount of windage.

    - Was the scope at mechanical zero before you sighted it in?
    - Is it possible that you scope mounts are not inline with the barrel?
    - Does your rear mount have a windage adjustment that was not centered?
    - If the scope is holding zero, is the amount a windage needed to sight in a true concern?

    Tough to say but the base or the rifle itself may be slightly off which is why it took 14 MOA of windage adjustment to get it right. When I dropped my Vortex AMG on my Remington 700 with a NF rail it took about 1/2MOA to get the windage dialed in.
    Generally a brand new scope will be set right in the middle of the adjustment range from factory. So in theory, if the scope has 30MOA of internal elevation adjustment, it'll be set so that you can go up or down 15MOA. Same goes for windage.
    I've never kept track of how far I am away from mechanical zero in the scope. I mount a scope, zero it for 100 yards and shoot it. Then again, I've never really had any issues with not being able to get a scope sighted in.

    K  It could any of the thoughts above.  There is a chance you may need to remount the scope, had the same problem and tighten in a different pattern and welllya  was dead zero. Put the bore site on and was right on also. Now at the range end up 6 clicks right 3 clicks  Been insite now for over 6 years  Must Be Lucky  LOL
