    +100%.....Boat US hands down.

My dad had to be towed from Misery to Chestnut early this year.....thinking it cost him $300. I pay $80 per year from Boat US for water towing (unlimited) and trailer towing. I also get perks from them that almost make it a wash.

I also save about $100 on my boat insurance thru Geico.

I think lake shore towing they have a discount if your a member of a organization like Pittsburgh downriggers /sons of lake erie etc....  and also if you get a member ship early I think you get more of a discount.(8144536387)

The problem I had with Lake shore was the price for service, and no benefits. $75 got me basic service, pretty much PA water. $95 got me full lake towing, plus access to other tow boats on great lakes water (no one has inland towing service in the area). If I am up in Ontario, I have to go through Lake Shore, to get to another tow company.

They also give me no coverage if my truck or trailer break down. Boat US will tow me, and my boat for free (unlimited), if I have any issues. With this, I think Geico owns Boat US, so you can't beat their insurance rates if you have a Boat US policy.

With Boat US, I pay $80 for full unlimited coverage on any water promoted by Boat US. If you look at the Boat US port map, there are 1000's of tow location of just about any major waterway. Lake Shore isn't going to come tow you when you break down in the Chesapeake Bay, or the Detroit River......or on St. Clair.

However, if you are on someone else boat and it breaks down, you have to know how to handle it or they won't cover. If you are on another guys boat and you need a tow, it is best to tell Boat US that you borrowed the boat, and the owner isn't present. If the owner of the boat is "on-board", and doesn't have a policy, your policy will NOT cover the tow. I don't mind a white lie if it save $300+.
