Looking for that monster hybrid...

Howdy folks, been awhile. One of my fishing goals for this year was to get on a 10lb+ hybrid, I've never hooked one over a couple lbs. Was thinking making a trip out to Montgomery Dam or even make the drive to Shenango. Closer would be great. The stipulation is, I will be fishing solely from shore. I'm big on jerkbaits, any particular I should use? Any other tips that will help me land a fatty are very welcome.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.

    Lake Arthur at night with topwater plugs is the best chance imo but not from shore. It can definitely happen at the river too though. Gonna need some luck from the bank, sometimes they just aren't reachable from the bank so first of all you have to reach the bigger fish. Some big ones lurk below New Brighton dam but a kayak or canoe to get out on the rocks would be a big help, you can see them hitting emerald shiners and shad all day where the fast water meets with the calm water on Fallston side, too far from shore. Sometimes they run into the turbines area but that hasnt been often last couple years. Montgomery is good choice if you absolutely have to fish from the bank
     
    My best advice would be to get out there at the buttcrack of dawn, wherever you choose

    You’ll hook into some on the Allegheny at lock and dam 2 and 3. They usually sit in in current breaks.
