High Point

Hoping to hit it this weekend, just wondering how the ice holds up after tomorrow, any response appreciated

Well wife and I fished it from 2-8 tonight, lots of dink perch and gills, bite turned on after dark, bunch of slab crappies and gills, wife caught a 20 something pickerel too, ice is 8" solid and safe, edges are good. Wish I could post pics, she was trying to hold that slimy pickerel for the camera, wondering if it was gonna bite her lol

Well, how about this for "panfish enhancement regulations"...High Point turned panfish enhancement on perch in 2000, as of their survey in 2007, 99% of perch trapped were short...they caught a few bigger ones during the bass survey, but hey, great job, keep the 50 fish keepers away (which every lake that size needs, geez 330 plus acres) and listen to the whiners who couldn't catch a cold in a hospital emergency room happy...and keep those stocked trout coming, we need more of those license buyers...or did they wanna keep the perch small hoping the enormous population of pike and now pickerel wolf down those tasty sized perch hoping for a good return of all those walleye FRY they been stocking that very few are catching...lol, just thought I'd jump on the conspiracy wagon

Let the pike eat :D theres so few lakes with good pike population. You can catch panfish anywhere :D. Just wish people would start keeping them dang pickeral.

PS - Anyone know how the ice is doing up there? Fishable yet?

yes.  please keep the invasive and delish pickerel.    please release pike.  maybe theres an outside chance that lake can turn back into a great bass/pike fishery.

i spoke with lady from Nicklows saturday, she did not have an ice/water level report.  i'll try again midweek.

With all the rain/wind and high temps there has to be no ice at all. People really should keep the pickerel, they're delicious and a lot of meat.

Laurel Hill lake is a year round lake, so you can fish it up to opening day catch and release. Seems a lot of people don't know about year round lakes. Kinda expecting to get stopped by a game warden and have to show him the reg's lol.

Update: 3/4/18
Wind was blowing 25 mph all weekend at High Point :( snuck into the north bay for a couple hours but no luck. No ice at all though.
