Happy New Year, haven't checked it personally but saw on another site that most of the bays are iced up and guys are fishing, last I saw was 3.5 to 4, still a little thin for my liking but it should get thicker with the cold helps the rest of the week

No prob chab, wasnt fast and furious fishing but it was chilly, 5 below when we started, we drilled a bunch of holes, had tons of lookers, bite was slow, started picking up when we left around 2, I kept 5 gills and a crappie, threw back around 15 perch and gills, two of my buddies kept none, they threw a few back, they didnt have flashers, man what a difference to see how the fish react to your lure movement, makes all the difference on a day like today, took a lot of teasing to get them to stay and look, then motionless for a while before a very light take. Maggots on a silver swedish pimple and some tiny ice jigs tipped with a maggot. Might hit High Point next weekend if ice here doesnt hold. Thickness around 5-6", all areas pretty safe now, i dont know about near dam, we were a couple hundred yards from the boat launch toward the upper end

You had a better day than me meatball..buddy screwed me over on letting me borrow his flasher so I went at it blind...had a few light bites and caught 1 decent crappie while actively jigging a tungsten jig tipped with gulp maggots..Ice was a nice solid 5-6 inches along the Lynn portal side

Good solid ice 6-10" depending. Slow bite, we caught  about 5-6, not even a lot of lookers. Fish up high. Dirty water. A buddy did ok early, he caught 15 quick, kept 3, we started at 11 and fished till 4. Gonna try near the dam tomorrow hoping for cleaner water. Wife is hooked, she loved watching them on the flasher react to lure movement, I had more fun watching and coaching her.

Wife and I fished Thompson bay 12-4, swiss cheesed the ice, found the artificial rock piles, tons of fish on the flasher, schools moving in and out, caught one 15" bass, released, nothing else made it to the top. I really thought the bite would be good, water is still stained, they just weren't interested in eating, just looking. Nice day, I thought perfect, one other guy out, 3" solid, 3" white, 1" water, was more than safe just looked ugly. Nice fishing with street clothes.

Meatball sounds like you had a enjoyable day with your better half and that is priceless.  I'm trying to convince my wife to give ice fishing a try just so she can see how enjoyable it can be.  Maybe this coming week after the rain and warming trend.   Hey, if your interested I have information pertaining to fishing after a January thaw and I'll post the link but ya gotta promise not to share it with nobody else.  I don't want nobody thinking I spot burn but I know the secrete will be safe on this forum.

Hope you enjoy it and find it helpful

Nice btdt, watched part of it, I know where he was lol, the wife thought ice fishing was cold and miserable which is why I just bought another shanty, she was thrilled to sit in comfort and watch a screen showing fish. I hated dragging my old shanty so I gave it to joebaker79 when he bought my old boat, he hates pulling it too, wait till he sees my smitty sled

Ha haa I hear ya on pulling some them old shantys. I have one of those two man suit case jobbies that I tugged around. By the time I got to where I was going, I was toooo dammed tired to set it up. Then when I did, it looked like a cub bear wearing boxing gloves, trying set up a pup-tent.

We will be seeing your new Ice adobe, I trust.

My wife didn't make it out with me this week which is OK 'cause, I got to stay out longer.
