Smurf Stone

Rick Haffele in his book Nymph-Fishing Rivers and Streams talks about the Smurf Stone but I cannot come up with a pattern for it anywhere.

Has anyone ever come accross this and if so do you have a pattern.

Thanks

Kinda looks a lot like charlie brooks type pattern. 3-dimensional type.
There's many vatiations out there. Peackock bodied, dubbed, chenile and such.

I enjoy reading about the insect life and how it pertains to trout. I have a read and tried to study the best of them.

I enjoy fishing even more so I am trying to identify the flies that I need to carry with me on a given day. I have it narrowed down to a few mayfly, midge stonefly and caddis flies. Each in a mymph; larva and in the case of the caddis fly the pupa.

It drives me crazy that these guys write books and name patterns to represent flies but never give a pattern such as the Smurf flies.

Hafele does this several times in his book. He mentions the smurf nymph and the smurf stone but I cannot find a pattern on the internet or in any of the books I have

I have the book and think it is really well writen. However he does not give a pattern for it. That is what I would like to see a Pattern for the smurf stone and he mentions a smurf nymph.

    thank you
