keystone lake

I took a short drive this afternoon to fish Keystone didn't see any deer again, but did pretty well on Trout. Unfortunately I was fishing for Crappie, which did not work out so well. Went past a small lake that was still frozen over, but did not see any ice at all on Keystone. There were a few guys out,but again there were more people walking than fishing. I did well on jigs & a gulp minnow.  sam

Fish'n is heating up at Keystone State Park for trout & Crappie. Was there to-day & did well on both. Also while my buddy was practicing his Turkey calls, a Bald Eagle came by to check things out. I don't know if it came in to the call,or just happened by,but it landed in a tree about 150 yds away & stayed for a while. Also saw an Osprey,I had a pretty good day.  sam

Sam, I always enjoy your reports.  I don't fish Westmoreland County much anymore, but grew up in Irwin (live near Butler now) and had some great times at Twin Lakes and Keystone as a kid.  Your reports make me want to venture back to those places.

Ed, How did you make out at erie this week-end?  BTW The Trout that we have been catching at Keystone were averaging bigger than at Twin & includes a good mix of Brooks.  sam
