First day out for 2017 ... skunked is an understatement.

Went to my usual place on the Yough. New Gee minnow trap. Sun hitting the water, 52 degrees, figured I might get something going with the surface temps warming up. Nada. Couldnt even catch any bait. Not a single hit on a lure. Opened the can of red worms I just bought ... they were dead and rotting.

Whoever said a bad day fishing beats a good day at work was incorrect. Had more fun calling my boss for 5 minutes today than I did 6 hours at the river.

Such is life.

I've had those type of days. I've personally never done well river fishing in Winter. Hopefully your next time out reminds you why you do it.

As for the worms, I always check either in the store or as soon as I leave. Can o bait is convenient, but stores don't seem to make sure inventory is good.
