Somerset Lake

I heard the new spill way for Somerset Lake would be where the fishing pier is now.   Did any one else hear this?  That would eliminate the deep end of the lake.

    Its true.

Suppose to put in a picnic area where the dam stands now. Shame for the place really ...making it smaller and more easy access on the opposite side of the pier(bike/walking trail). Ruined it for me, WAS my favorite lake. Wouldn't shock me if they started dumping trout in also after the repairs and "upgrades"

I hear you mountain man.  Don't think the water would stay cold enough for trout.

They dump them in the county park pits in Westmoreland just saying $$$. Wouldn't be that much of a leap.

I think they are doing the salvage next fall also? Doesn't matter the fishing sucked the past two years lol.

Didn't fish it the last couple of years.  Didn't think I could get the boat in there.   Somerset Lake is done for a long time.

You "could" but I wouldn't recommend it. Kayaks and canoes you'd be ok at the half assed launch

Do you think they will bury all the shad in Somerset Lake like they buried the carp at Donegal?

Yea they only save "desired" species. Even though the shad made that into a great channel catfishery..

Fish salvage is set for next fall 2017.
