Arthur night bite?
Have the wipers turned on at night yet? Haven't been up for a few weeks.
Taking my dad up tomorrow night and would really like to see him catch one. If not, sure we can get into some channels. There will be a fish fry Saturday either way!

I've been out twice so far. Two weeks ago, they were pretty active. Didn't start up till after 12 though.
Last Friday, it was much slower in several spots I checked, all the way through 12:45.
Should be hitting prime time here soon. A couple of successful fishermen I've heard from have been using live alewives. I was tossing top waters and haven't caught any yet.

Sounds like I might need to bring some catfish gear then. Don't think the dad will be up for an all-nighter at 70 years old.

Daytime wiper tease photo. They can definitely be caught during light. This time of year isn't the best, as most stuff their faces at 3AM...

I'm far from an expert on 'em having fished about 6-8 times a year for them for the past 4 summers, but most night time fish that I've caught are between 11:30 PM and 1:30 AM. That's about as long as I can hang in there. Have had a few nights where they're going good and catch a couple between 10 and 11. A few times I've showed up at 10:30 and others have said, "Should have been here an hour ago." I don't know, seems to be different every night I go on the times and places they're active, and I haven't quite figured it out yet. But I wade or shore fish, so for me to check out different spots is time consuming, wading around for awhile and then hopping in my car to go to another spot. I tend to stick with the places with which I'm familiar so I'm probably missing out on some opportunities. Guys using live alewives certainly seem to catch 'em more consistently throughout the season, especially this time of year. One guy that I talk to has almost talked me into getting a cast net and permit, but I don't want to lug around a net and bucket while I'm wading.

I'm heading up Friday for my first trip of the year. I was out of state for 10 years and only fished Arthur twice at night for wipers last year without a hit, but it was kind of late in the year. Can anyone help me out with a general area I would want to go. I am trolling motor only so I have to launch kind of close to where I fish. Would I want to launch from McDaniel's or 528?
