Dutch Forks

Anyone know any about the lake? Use to be one of the nicest lakes in Washington county till the PFBC destroyed it.

Last I had heard it was full of trees and you couldn't get on the other side. I've wanted to drive down just to look but I'm not suppose to go that far without a babysitter!

P.T.2      What you are saying brush& trees no problem? Bought a Trout stamp this year plan on going and trying it later this year after things quiet down.  Havent fished it since reopening. How about putting a boat in?       Eppy

I love the brush and trees too. Man the fertility. Looks like the only boat launch sucks lol

Can't speak much for boating or trout fishing. If you want to fish power bait off the bottom Dutch Fork probably ain't your best choice. In the near future I believe its going to be a GREAT panfish lake. Just one mans' opinion though.

Dutch Fork, although managed by the Fish Commission is owned by the Game Commission. The road that runs the back of the lake is closed with no intent of opening (too much maintenance required). The reason it was re-filled without much consideration for fishermen was to supply the necessary water for mining the property. With the amount of trees left standing, it will take a very long time to be trout fisherman friendly. The pan fishing should be excellent in a few years though! Presently, I would recommend using non-motor boats such as canoe or kayak. Too much wood for the prop.

A bad day of fishing beats a great day at work!
